Gamer Thread

I purchased the Walking Dead game off Steam and I have to sing its praises. I was only able to play it for half an hour, but damn was it intense. It's much more methodical than most zombie games, and has a pretty unique playstyle that's very event driven.

It's freaking scary though. :)

I just decided to check out League of Legends. My username is Ciarath. Looks pretty interesting so far. :)

Toys R us has a buy 1 get one at 50% sale, so I was able to swing in and get a copy of Halo 4 for both my brother and I. And so far, definitely so good.

Fred, I can not wait for the DLC! That game brings out all of the nerdiness in me. The detail and art in the game (and DLC) alone makes it worth it to get. And the gameplay is very captivating, and timely to complete.

Gotta say, I am surprised that you guys weren't as hot on Oblivion or Morrowind. Halo, Morrowind and Madden were the only games I had/played for xbox. And Morrowind topped the list. I loved Oblivion at first, and even until after I finished most of the quests (and the whole main) I really enjoyed it, but it really falls short of Skyrim.. of course, most games do.

LOL, Nova... I'm a completionist... and it seems that you are too. I've got multiple characters into the hundred hour mark.

Michael... I'm with ya! When that DLC comes out, life will be over here on earth... but somewhere in Skyrim, I'll be searching for the FIRST Dragonborn! (My inner geek comes out too!). LOL.

The ONE thing I have issue with Skyrim... the sneaky character is WAAYYYY overpowered... I have tried making everything from a pure warrior to a pure mage, but there's only so much I can do without sneaking into a castle, whipping out a bow and killing everything in sight. Of course it is even MORE fun now that they've got the "BOW KILL" cutscenes in the game. :)

I'm going to try Oblivion as soon as I finish my next run through of ME1 through ME3... Just finishing up ME1 for the 4th time (1st time on Hardcore). I actually just turned off the system! LOL.

Sarah... I'll let my son know... he's quite "arrogant" while gaming, so you might NOT enjoy playing while he's around. LOL.

With my Christmas bonus, I'll probably go ahead and buy a Halo 4 360 bundle... IF, I can. I'm debating on doing that or getting an RC Plane or Helicopter. I'm intrigued by the look of the system and the quirky "extras" that come with it. Of course, since shooters make me ill (motion sickness), I'll have to invest in some dramamine in order to play! HA! How nerdy is that?

I can't believe I missed this the first time around...I recently returned to WoW after a couple years away. I primarily play MMORPGs now (WoW, played Tera for a while, met my partner on CoH/V, LotRO, DDO)

I take breaks to console with Final Fantasy (VII, VIII, X and X-2 are favorites. I desperately wanted to like XIII and XIII-2, but got to a point where I just couldn't progress through them, so walked away.) I love Skyrim, although pretty pissed that we got the PS3 version.

Dragon Age, Fable, Zelda...And Sims3, which I need to play. We bought Seasons, and I have yet to play :/

I'm not a fan of FPS (the exception being BioShock), platformers (I have poor depth perception and bad twitch), racing games, etc.

I ended up starting a new character in Skyrim last night. Pure archer. Harkens back to my favourite way to play Fallout 3 - A sneaky snipey bastard. :p

I used to play WoW, Toxic, but I ended up giving up after WotLK. I like to raid, but the only way to participate in raids is to dedicate serious time to preparing. And if you're not in a guild that can host the raids themselves, you likely won't be able to go. All the raid pugs seem to require achievements for the bosses in the raid. If you haven't gone already, you never will.

I dunno if it's still like that, but I played a bit of Cataclysm and was just bored. So now I'm done. I play GW2 now and then and gave Planetside 2 a go, but I think my MMO days are mostly done.

I enjoy some racing games, played Forza Motorsport 4 a LOT. Was part of a car club that hosted season long competitions. I even have a wheel for my XBox, which is totally rad. Unfortunately I kind of burned out on it when I was competing and making youtube highlight reels of the races, so I stopped playing. Now the club has moved on to Forza Horizon, which I don't plan to get.

Recovering WoW addict (its been years), and Black Ops freak. I've actually stayed away from Ops 2 just because I know I'll neglect everything once I get my hands on it. Also dabbled in the newest Star Wars MMO, but couldn't find a good crew to run with.

MMo's are pure evil.

Toys R us has a buy 1 get one at 50% sale, :[ ]????!?!?!? YES!

As for me, I'm playing Quest for Glory, Recettear, Sonic Color, and Pokemon Gold.

Forgot to mention... Final Fantasy - ANYTHING is one of my "staples". LOL.

TOTALLY me too Fred. I'm actually looking forward to the re-release of FF 14 coming out soon. The new remade-revamped online style FF.

I'm currently playing Mists of Pandaria (WoW), which is ok.

I quit D3 for a while because the overall gameplay sucked and then they fixed it again (bringing in paragon levels, Ubers and monster power level), so I'm back to playing Diablo. To throw in a little extra challenge, I play hardcore only (have yet to lose a character, knock on wood).

I played a game called The Secret World, which I *really* like and will probably go back to with a little more added content,

And I played GW2, and wasn't impressed overall, but it wasn't a bad game.

I also heard that they added in quite a bit of new content for Skyrim and with the new expansion coming out, I'll probably go to that one again for a bit!

WAY too many games these days!!

Dragonborn for Skyrim has been downloaded and after many attempts to do the OTHER quests first before delving into this new one, I relented and have begun the Dragonborn DLC (it is hard NOT to when some idiots are sent to kill me for being a "false" Dragonborn, LOL). VERY interesting thus far. Solstheim is pretty kewl. Just now getting to the real "meat" of the DLC. Entertainment at its best!

I like the heck out of playing first person shooters, and you would think being retired that I could just play any time I wanted to. Yeah, I know I really don't have anything better that I HAVE to do, but darn, I feel that I'm just wasting my time playing games. Got to break myself of that one of these days........

Rich, you'd enjoy Battlefield 3, i think out of all the FPS that it's the most realistic and skillful games, allowing for vehicles, jets, helicopters, etc... instead of your usual call of duty. Besides i like playing PC not console and BF3 is made for PC instead of being made for console and modified for PC (COD).

Already have it. I bought it from a guy on Ebay and all I did was to make sure that the unlock code worked when I installed it. Yeah, seems like a pretty decent FPS. Got it with Call of Duty MW3 and some other star wars game for a ridiculously low price. Just no way I'm going to pay $50 or so for a game. So I browse through Ebay every now and again looking for something interesting at a bargain price. Got a whole stack of games I've not played yet. What I would do is see something on Ebay, then go over to YouTube to watch some videos showing game play. If it looks like fun, I buy it.

PC games are the ones I play. I do have a PS3 that I bought to play Blu-Ray movies, and do have a couple of games for it, but I just can't get used to those thumb paddle thingies.

Yeah, maybe I should play some over the next few days. Connie asked me why I haven't been playing any games lately. Well, right now I'm spending some time with a tuning program for my car, and that is a real complex piece of software. Not sure I should get wrapped up in a game. Arghh, there goes that "time wasting" avoidance alarm going off again......... :eek1:

Lol I can't believe I haven't found this thread until now. I'm a huge gamer and also because I love them so much I've started collecting rarer games as well just because I like to have them( I only buy things I will play though I don't shelf collect or buys games I can't play). I'm a huge fan of rpgs but with the lack of traditional japanese style rpgs dwindling in the new systems I've started playing a lot of FPS style rpgs like mass effect and bioshock lately. I'll play just about any game once but I'm just not a fan much of simulators for the most part or puzzle games. I find a few that fit me and I really enjoy those but overall I just dont' see anything time consuming and fun in those categories for me. If I can't get at least 40-50 hours of gameplay out of the storyline/ online multiplayer I see no point in playing it because it's not worth the price of the game since a lot of games I only play once and then may not ever play again or not play again for a long time. I'm currently playing black ops 2, borderlands two and pokemon black.

I can't play Battlefield 3. I have it, just can't play it right now. It is too realistic for me so I have to wait until I get healing. Having been in battle, I will stick with CoD for a while.

Yeah, I hear you. I'm not really all that fond of realistic war games myself. I would much rather shoot zombies and aliens. :) And I'll take a good laser blaster over an M16 any day of the week.

Hear hear!!

I'd much rather use a sword in Medieval type games than realistic war shooters, though I don't mind the occasional monster/ghost shooter with futuristic plasma rifles xP
