Good Riddance, You Black Hole Of Cash

Hey Dale, glad to hear you got rid of your clunker. I have a 2000 Ford Focus and had to get almost $800 work on it a few months back. The ABS went out. Its got almost 100K miles on it. I'm just hoping it holds up until I get my credit back to a decent level after filing Ch. 7 BK. Good luck with the Neon.

Well this is one person NOT bagging on Fords.!!
The ONLY cars I've owned that left me stranded
were GM cars, 85 Olds blew motor w/only 65,000 on it,
92 Cad Deville blew Trans (FWD) w/only 75,000 on it.
I had a 92 T-Bird that I paid $500 for drove it for 3 yrs
still had orig eng, trans, etc. Had over 235,000 on it & got
$600 trade in on it. I currently own another 92 T-Bird that I pd $450
for and have had no probs in the year I've had it.
We currently have:
'05 Ford Freestyle
'95 Explorer
'92 T-Bird
'85 Bronco II
'89 Suburban
and the only one not running is the Chevy!!
And my Racecar is a 74 Pinto!!

I can't wait for electric cars to catch on. Imagine your car engine having a single moving part.

Actually GM made a really nice one but due political pressure they disappeared.
The care was called the GM EV-1

And a history of Electric Vehicles can be found here.

Excellent! I really enjoyed this link... I drove an El Camino for years, according to your link it means I am running a militia to overthrow the government... Good thing I have an S10 now!!

Well, since this afternoon, I evidently enjoy doing the Macarena! ;)

"This car has performed an illegal operation." I love it. Thanks for the link Dale, I'm bookmarking that one.

Every car in the acronyms except LOTUS (Load Of Trouble Usually Serious)

It's strange how you all hate FORDS, an American car, yet over here thy are one of the best loved and most reliable.. Maybe its because we change them when they get 70-100,000 miles on them..

old fords are good my dad had an '87 econoline dayvan and he had it 15 years the only thing that went wrong on it was the left rear wheel stud kept snapping off.

Change them, does that mean replace them? I dunno, mine has like 64,000 miles right now. The tranny went out at like 50. :(

And I've had all 4 tired replaced 2 or 3 times, I thought that was normal, though. Sigh.

I loved my Explorer. It was the Eddie Bauer edition- nice leather, lumbar support, electric everything that eventually died, like the windows, lumbar support, etc. But it was very luxurious. So when I went to replace it, after it had issues when I was racing home from Georgia during a hurricane, (animals in the house) I discovered there was no way I was getting back into an Explorer, and had to get an Isuzu Rodeo. (I've never been able to buy a new car, or rather, have never wanted a $300+ car payment). So it was hard adjusting to the Rodeo- it felt small and light and cramped. After a couple years I decided I just had to have an Explorer again, and test drove one, which, amazingly, now felt big and clunky and heavy and too spacious- like everything was too far away from me and I couldn't reach stuff and couldn't see over the steering wheel. I had come to love the Rodeo, I guess!

I'm sorry, Dale, that's just a junky situation to be in... Things usually have a way of working out, especially when you want them to, so as dorky as it sounds -- think lots of positive thoughts. I do hope that all of your current animals are happy & healthy, and even if you can't get to Daytona this year, that by next year, you'll be in a much better place so that you can splurge like crazy. :)

I had two Ford Escorts ('91 & '93), both manual transmissions, and both worked well for me. I had few problems with either...in fact, my '93 lasted until 2005 with just about her original everything, including her original clutch (despite city driving, too!). :)

Now, on the other hand, my father had a '91 Ford Taurus which I guess had some major problems with it, as evidenced by his needing to replace the entire transmission 3 times (one story is that while traveling through NE on business, it "fell out"...I don't know how that happens, but that's the only explanation my sisters & I were ever given!)...!

I'm now on a 2003 Honda Civic that I bought in 2005, and once that is paid off (2 more years, at most!), I'm looking toward a Honda Fit, or better. Regardless: a hybrid. My Civic has been working really well for me, though...*fingers crossed while knocking on lots of wood!*

Lots of good thoughts to you, Dale!

Maybe it's the "grass is greener on the other side" syndrome, but yeah, the pinnacle of success here in 'Murika is to own a high-end foreign-made import. Beemer. Lexus. Jag.

Cars are nothing but utilitarian for me personally; as long as I can schlep what I need to schlep, safely and on time, it's all good.

You're just jealous you don't look sexy.

Edit: And for the record: Yes, I am absolutely terrified of the pic that Dale will post as a response to that. Morbid curiosity keeps me from deleting this post.
