Got a baby

Caboose

Hi people. Ive just got a baby cornsnake from the NARBC reptile show in anaheim. It said he is a hypo ghost but hes red and orange so i dont know...

Anyways, hes about 10 inches long, on aspen, in a 5.5gallon aquarium with a screen locking lid. He has a hide, a branch, and a shallow water dish for soaking. Do I need anything else?

ALSO : At what age is a corn snake considered an adult? Thanks!

i think it is age 3 years :) do you have a heat mat? do you have a thermommeter? if so i think you ar eall set! Be sure to get it out as much as possible to get it used to being handled:)

It is most likely a hypo if it is orange and red not a ghost because ghost are grey. If you post some pictures I'm sure someone could tell you if it's a hypo or not.

You need a heat pad, thermometer, thermostat/rheostat, and another hide one on the hot side and one on the cool side. I would get a 10 gallon tank but that's up to you.

:cheers:Congrats on your new snake and good luck.

I dont have a heat mat yet, but my room is constantly around 80
degrees. would i still need one? i already have a thermometer. ill post pics in a few mins.

im taking him out a lot, hes actually on my hand now :)

ghosts are hypo anerys if I am recalling correctly--ok I checked it with SMR: Ghostly pale anerythristic looking corn, a combination of hypomelanism and anerythrism type "A

But not all hypos are red or grey, I believe it is just a difference in the intensity--but all ghosts are silvery grey.

Your not really supposed to handle them for about 7 days after getting them to give them time to settle.

Ok I got some pics,
