Gourmet Rodent Review

I am lucky to live seven miles away from Gourmet Rodent. This means I can phone in an order and pick it up the same day. I can order any quantity I want- there aren't set package amounts. Prices are reasonable. The only rule is there is a $50 minimum. If I buy 100 items, there is no box charge. So today I picked up 25 mouse pinks, 25 mouse fuzzies, 50 adult mice, 10 rat fuzzies and 10 day old chicks. $68. I told the guy that they had not charged me for 25 mouse hoppers in my last order and he said forget it. Thank you!! The quality of everything (except the adult mice) is excellent. No freezer burn, clean, not deformed, not broken. The adult mice are somewhat dirty. But I already knew that. The other mice are very uniform and I would say plump for their size. I'm pretty happy with them! Here's a pic, FWIW. It's pretty foggy.

If you didn't know, Gourmet Rodent is also a HUGE breeder of cornsnakes and kingsnakes. When they vend at a reptile show, they always bring along their nice collection of paradoxes. They have some cool snakes.

My guess is that you had Chinese food sometime right before you picked these up.......(sorry I noticed it in the top left corner)

Ummmm Fortune Cookies, Fried Wontons.... Thats it!!! Chinese food for lunch!!!!

Oh nice snake food too....

DYK That will be so cool to just be able to go pick up my orders in the future.
Nanci do they let you see their collection & animals for sale? Because that could be dangerous for me. I can't help myself when I see a pretty snake. :D

I called them once to see if they would buy corn snakes but they told me no. Oh well.

Nice looking feeders... a little expensive though. My last rodentpro order cost $150 but I bought 100 pinkies, 100 hoppers, 100 weanings, 100 large adults, and 25 rat pups (425). That comes out to only 36 cents per rodent. That order will last me well over a year.

It is convenient for you to have them so close though!

edited to add that the price includes shipping. It was $108 before shipping cost

That's what the pinkies were for, her fried rice.

Very cool that you live so close Nanci. I always order the hairless adults now from ARS. They are clean and while the may look funny, I don't think the snakes are missing out on anything with the no hair.
