Absolutely right - but I think that is what pushes them up there as the greats. Most of their stuff was way before my time, but seeing them play live, full makeup, over the top set, all the drama and fireworks ... there's not many bands who can do that. But surely they want to rock and roll all night, not be a metal band? :)

Sabbath and Maiden for me ... sadly my first Maiden gig was when Blaze was singing instead of Bruce, but I still love them!
 
I worked for Bruce .....What a complete..............Never liked him....Ian Gillan on the other hand was an awesome guy to talk with....So was Dave Byron (Uriah Heep)
I'm not sure what is metal .....Looking at what you guys are describing as metal I'd go with....Rainbow....Dio on vocals and blackmore on axe....Unbeatable....
 
I had to vote for the one that I could at least recognize some of their "songs". I'm not a heavy metal fan at all, but that band was one of my brother's favorites so I was forced to hear it while growing up.
 
Ok, forgetting the historical factor, or who came up with what first or who is better playier than who, just my opinion and what drives me wild whenever I listen to it: Pantera and Sepultura, sorry but they're the best...
 
Psh. I don't listen to much metal ... but ... we all know it's Dethklok ... but that's only because I love Metalocalypse.
 
I would probably have to say maiden, they have some of the greatest metal albums of all time. And they put new metal bands to shame.

And if anybody has ever tried to learn to play some iron maiden on guitar, they will know, they have got to be insanley talented, because some of their songs are very hard to play.
 
im a metallica fan a diehard one well up until 1989 haha.....Pantera anyone.....thrash metal is not all about the big 4 (anthrax,metallica,slayer,megadeth) i love um all but testament are a much overlooked thrash band and they kick bum same as exodus.........\m/ \m/

Disturbed are awesome, Ten Thousand Fists is a really good album.

I like Pantera too Noel, and if I had 10 options they'd be one of them.

Granted, I'm not a youngster, nor do I listen to alot of metal.

BUT...Hetfield's voice has to be the sexiest thing I've EVER heard.
Gives me shivers and I'm not easily impressed :)
 
I would have very much prefered to vote Pantera. But instead I Chose Metallica, I love the Black Album, And Just for All and Master of Puppets. The rest of the albums are pretty good but have nothing on what the early stuff is like.
 
I like most of the bands on there....but, I voted Slayer because they gotta get some love too and you don't get much more metal than Slayer. :dgrin:
