Green Tree Python

I was doing some tub cleaning, earlier today, and decided to take some photos of my late '07 GTP (Jayapura ) youngster.
As yet unsexed, it is suspected that "she" is female. However, I won't find out (positively), if male or female, until she is a little bigger/older. Once I am 100% sure, of sex, I will be getting another (GTP-Jayapura) of the opposite sex.

I am just smitten with this young'un and look forward to watching her color changes.

Stunning snake....I think everyone loves GTP.
Question....... I noticed that a few referred to that as a chondro. I thought chondro was the old name for them and no longer relevant, or is it the other way around....LOL

Chondropython was the old latin name. But chondro is still a fairly common name. I never refer to them as green tree pythons because it simply takes too long to say lol

GTP is shorter than Chondro....LOL
I knew it had changed, but is still in use as a common name, mostly in America..
They changed it's name when they realised it was a Morelia......

I fell in love, with her, the moment I saw her. Then, I had to have her.

I adore chondros.

Me too. Cannot wait to get a partner, for this one, and have plans to, also, get another pair (different locale).

Yep, you are correct ... Morelia Viridis, they are, ... and the use, of Chondro, is very common.

I love the color, that she is now, but it is going to be great/interesting watching the color change.

awesome snake, I'd love to have a GTP myself... but I have always heard that it's in their nature to be pissy and mean as hell. Is this always the case, or do they just have a bad rep? Im sure not EVERY single GTP is ill tempered, but are they more liable to be snappy than not to be?

In our lab we have two GTP that I take care of my avatar is the female, our male has more yellow. You said you are going to be looking for a male/female once you find out the sex, be carefull cause our male and female hate each other. My Professor told me that its rare to find a mate for breeding.
