Sorry about the strictness of this requirement, but it is necessary to block spammers and scammers at the door as much as possible.

Guess that herp!!!

A little etymology:
The name of the genus describes the toes of most species in the genus.
The common name of the species group is onomatopoeic, describing the call of some of the males.

Coquí Llanero ~ Eleutherodactylus juanriveoi

That's it.
I wanted to post the Common Coqui, but it's not that distinctive (looks wise), so I posted it's cousin with a stripe.
The people of Puerto Rico (my wife included) love the coqui and use it as a symbol of the boricua (native Taino) heritage. They like to say "from here, like the Coqui".

Here's a green lizard.
I think you guys will have enough with the head :)

OOO! OO! OO! I actually KNOW this one! ( I think. )

Tiger snake! ( Don't ask me the Latin name. I'm not there yet. Sorry Dad! )

If I'm wrong, oh well! If I'm right, its because I've been watching a lot of the "Crocodile Hunter" lately when I should be out looking for a better job.

So am I right??? Hunh???

YIPPEE! I just hooted so loud I scared both cats!

But really. I NEED to get a book on snakes ALL KINDS OF SNAKES so I can learn all the details AND their Latin names.

When I was a kid, my dad used to give these field trips to the city dwellers into wildlife preserves. On the way he'd be identifying every bird they saw and every wildflower they ran across and he'd ALWAYS give the Latin name and explain why.

I was never jealous of this talent------until now!

Notechis scutatus. I'll have to remember that one. What a beautiful Sheela!
