Handling during the shedding process.

i dont know if this the right area to ask but here we go. as usual my diesel is chilling in his hidespot for the week or so before he sheds. is it ok mfor me to handle him before he sheds or should i just wait? thanks

Some snakes are more defensive during a shed cycle, especially while their eyes are clouded. (None of mine seem bothered). If you need to handle, do so, but just go by your snake's behaviour, and don't be surprised if it does startle more easily.

My girlfriend had one of my adult corns try and shed in her hair one day. He cleared up and we thought he was fine and then he wanted to shed in her hair.
It depends on the snake.
This girl doesnt mind being held in shed.

Good advice so far. Just go by the individual's wishes. One of mine is like Greta Garbo when she's shedding; she wants to be left alone. The other don't care. Heck, Yohsong (my amel) has actually shed while being handled twice. She seems to want to be picked up when she's ready to shed.

The bad thing about letting a snake shed in your hair is shedding frequently involves the first poop in two weeks, too!

Thats cool shedding in your hair, i will see if diesel minds being handled and ill get some pics. thanks for replying by the way:twoguns:

Yeah my amel kind of gets more of cloudy eyes than blue eyes and turns pinkish, but then he clears up and about 4 days after he sheds. Good luck with the shed.

Akki Neko's right about the color variation. Snakes with dark eyes get that blue color more commonly than the lighter morphs/eye colors. With snows it's easy to miss the "cloudy" stage altogether and be surprised by a shed in the viv until you get more accustomed to your particular animal.

The smae thing happens to my diesel, ive never seen him with blue on pinkinsh. probably because the fact hes albino. Ill get put some pics up today.
