Hatchling's Progress

Jessicat

All Pied Everything
Hey guys! The next few weeks are very busy for me, it's nearing the end of the term. Most of the little guys have shed by now, and they are all being offered their first meals. I have not been able to sex them yet. Every time I try I either get musked or in one case I even accidentally pulled off the tail bit of a shed!
Now that most of the babies are shed I feel more comfortable re-attempting to sex them. The first priority is getting them to eat though, and I don't want to stress them out too much with fooling around near their rear ends!

Just thought I'd post pictures of their progress. I'll update this thread with info on gender as soon as I know!

Peach modeling the set up that everybody is in. Now that they've shed I'll most likely add substrate as well.

The last three, Lychee, Nectarine, and Apricot haven't shed yet. I'll update when they have! Thanks for looking, let me know which one is your favorite!

I still like Papaya, and also Zucchini is really pretty! Poor guy got a veggie name!
LMK if you want any help on popping them when you're ready. (They will almost always musk and poop on you so just get that part over with and then try again lol.)

I love Papaya!! So cute! Pear is really cute too. So is Fig.... gosh, what am I saying they all are beautiful!

Nate: I already called dibs on Nectarine! LOL!

Jessica, they are such a beautiful group. I said it before, and I'll say it again--if they were my clutch, I'm sure I'd keep them all!

My favorites that are showing would definately be Pineapple & Banana, but I can't wait to see what Nectarine looks like after they've shed ;)
Speaking of Pineapple, is it just me, or just the angle of the pics but with the hatchling pic and now the new shed pic, it looks like Pineapple has a more sharply angled nose??? Whereas the other's look more "normal" shaped??

Ahhh I was wondering about Nectarine too. Can't we still see post shed pics? PPLLEEAASSEE! (Hear the wine in my voice lol)

Peach & pumpkin r my favourites. Altho each hav really cute unique patterns & they're all totally gorgeous! ^^ congratulations!

Hey no talking about my future baby! :)

Well, you guys are in luck, Nectarine just shed!!

Unfortunatly many of the babies are being picky. I've offered them all meals now and only Papaya and Banana ate! :awcrap:

I don't know if I tried to feed them too soon (right after they shed), or if the prey item was intimidating. I suppose I will wait a little while and then try just heads and see how they like those.

Alright, you asked for it, tons of pictures of Nectarine!

And now a few photos without flash. I think there might be some kind of blood bath in figuring out who our little favorite will go to! :sidestep:

Lychee has also shed.

Here's how drastically different they look in the flash and without. In real life they are somewhere in between. Not quite so yellow, not quite so pale. ;)

Jen, I have a feeling I might need your help, but I'll keep trying! I keep watching the video, but I think I'm not pressing firmly enough. I also need to cut my nails.
Thanks for the heads up on the poop and pee, I'll just have to pop them over a garbage can!
Unfortunately I think I may have stressed them out trying to sex them, and I'm wondering if that might have been why they didn't take their first offered meal. I hope I have better luck next time!

lol, also, nice catch on Zucchini! I liked the word so much I didn't even think about fruit vs veggie on that one! :O I came across "Rhubarb" considered as both a fruit and a vegetable too. How weird!

Hopefully Apricot will shed soon!

Also, if/when the next 7 emerge (double clutch), I think I'm going to go with nut names!

It's probably just his head pattern and the way the light is catching his head. All of the babies heads are about the same size, but due to differences of "eyebrow" size, I can see how they look different. I think the Stripes, especially the Butters, have less pattern going on on their heads/snouts, creating the illusion of elongation.

I fed mine the day after they shed, not the same day. FWIW. It's hard to learn how to pop, and then you get it!! I was told that if you pop out only one hemipene, or if they are white not red, you need to apply a teeny bit more pressure. And if they don't pop out, start a little further back. The right place was much further back than I thought it would be.
