heating steralite tubs in rack

We are working on building racks for our cornsnakes with steralite containers and I would like some links on reptile tape or cords and how to use it. I've always used aquariums with uth's on a ceramic tile. So I need help on how to keep these rubber maid tubs warm. I live in fl so humidity isn't an issue but I don't know what brand tape to buy or how to use it and what accessories I need with it.

Thanks in advance.

Flexwatt is generally used with rack systems, various places sell it online. I get most of my supplies from the Bean Farm www.beanfarm.com
They sell everything you need to set it up.

You can set it up so that individual strips run along each shelf, or you can set it up to run long strips down the back of the rack (that's how I have my homemade racks set up to be).

Google is your friend link, link.

Ha ha, thanks, of course I have googled several different articles and "how to" pages for building and heating breeder racks. I ask on a forum because I am looking for individual and unique ideas on how people here do it specifically. I can always follow any how to page, but how do I know if that is the best way to do it?

The herp farm we went to actually cools and heats their whole sheds to the appropriate temperatures. So it wasn't much help there trying to figure out how to do it on a smaller scale.

Azhketh, that is really useful information! I was looking into flexwatt for a while now for when I build my rack (how'd I end up with 10 snakes?), I was just concerned because I have no know how on wiring. Thank you!

If you want to use flexwatt but don't want to take the risk of wiring it yourself. They'll wire it for you, just be sure to add "heat tape connection" to your shopping cart, and write in comments how you want the flexwatt cut and wired (length/quantity).

This is GREAT! thank you so much

omg, I know! We are up to 7 and we just saw two more on craigslist for an awesome deal, my hubby and I had to say no for now though, until we get our racks built and up and running!:D

The more I reasearch I hear about those heating cables causing hot spots and stuff it has me a little worried. I think I am leaning more towards the website that will wire the flexwatt for me and I can tell them what sizes I need for my racks.

Just make sure you regulate it with some sort of thermostat. (I use a lamp dimmer.) It should be fine. Frank at www.coldblooded-novelties.com, I have seen him wire a few for customers, all you do is plug them into your thermo and go. Give him a shout , heck of a nice guy, and his prices are reasonable.
