Not to flog a dead horse or anything. But big momma let loose today! Looks to be at least a dozen babies and they're still alive! All 4 mice are staying in the igloo with the babies and it appears they are being nursed. I may have asked this before, but their cage really needs cleaning and I was wondering if I should just let it go for a few more days? Thanks. :wavey:

Since this is your first critical moment, I'd let it go till Wednesday if you can.

Then what I do is put the adults in a container, then scoop the babies up with the nest and put them into a bowl or something. Change out the litter, make a depression in the same spot their nest was, put the nest back and then add the adults back in. That should lessen the chances of them packing them around for hours.

Congrats on the babies, by the way. Hope these finally do it for ya. =)

Don't rock the boat Mike! They should be fine for a few more days. Once they reach that 1 week age, they hardly ever get eaten (in my experience). You could always just take out the nest, put it aside, clean the tank as usual, and put the whole thing back in. By nest I mean all the bedding directly beneath the babies. Good luck man!

Thanks ladies, that was what I was thinking. Just leave them be for 2 more days. As a bonus, I just caught "big boy" doing his thing again with another female, and the pinks were being nursed by their "non mother"!!!!!

so, are they still there? I have my very first litter from my mice due soon.

Yes, they are miraculously still there! They are being nursed by at least 2 of the females. This is my 3rd colony and would have been my last if they failed as well.
