Herping With Daniel Parker, Sunshine Serpents NEW PICS!!

Nanci

Alien Lover
As a surprise date during Rich's visit for Daytona week, I arranged for us to go herping with Daniel Parker, Sunshine Serpents.

I had been corresponding with Daniel for a couple weeks, and he was keeping me updated with news of the animals he was finding. It sounded like we were going to have perfect conditions.

We met up with Daniel in Cross City, Florida and hopped in his car. Daniel drove us out to one of his favorite herping sites for road cruising. Daniel said that he'd been spotting the first snake of the evening at about 6:30 PM, and we saw our first at a little after 6PM.

Our first snake was a lifer for me, a pygmy rattlesnake adult.

Very cool, Nancy! Daniel certainly knows how to locate snakes in Florida and other neighboring areas alright.

Okay, here is one of the cottonmouths we found! And by we I mean Daniel, who can drive fast down a dirt road and differentiate between a thousand sticks and one tiny pygmy baby seemingly effortlessly.

Now Rich has pics on his camera of the glossy crayfish snake and the blue-lined garter and others- it was getting dark and I just wanted to handle the snakes!!

Oops, almost forgot! This is my best photo of the evening!

Finding the colubrids was a lot more fun, since I got to hold them all!! I resisted kissing them, though.
