Just wanted to make an introduction here. My name is Blake. I have been keeping herpes my whole life. But i have never owned a corn snake! anyways, the other day i was out helping my poppop move some chain link fence wrapped up with tarp around it. As we unrolled 2 of them, we found 3 snakes living inside! It was awesome. We found 2 corn snakes and a little baby ring neck snake. I decided to keep the biggest corn snake. Do wild caught corn snakes do well in captivity? and i would love some new beginner tips anyone could give me :D oh and i will post some pics soon
 
I think, not 100% sure, but I think that is a milk snake.
Cool find either way though! You should have no problem keeping it in captivity as a pet.
 
It's up to you. You are more than welcome here. Most of the users keep a variety of snakes, not just corns. There are lots of knowledgeable people around here, and friendly too. :)
 
ohh and 1 more thing, i noticed at the very end of his tail is damaged. It may have gotten smashed it looks like. Not to serious tho. And he also has spots on his body and top of his head where his old skin has not come off. anything i could do about either of these?
 
As long as the injury on his tail is past his vent, I would not worry and just keep an eye on it. If you can take a close up picture of the injury that would be great.

The stuck bits of shed can be fixed by upping the humidity a bit. You can mist the tank twice a day or let him crawl around in damp paper towels.
 
Oh, that's not too bad at all. The very end bit may fall off over time, but that is nothing anything too awful.

Dampness should help loosen up those areas. By the next shed, he will be right as rain.
 
You might have trouble getting him to eat mice. If so, please release him. Also, since he's wild-caught, he will have parasites. That's okay- a vet can deworm him. It's not an emergency, but something you should take care of in a month or two, ifyou decide to keep him, as long as he eats.
 
ok i will keep this is mind. I have gotten other wild snakes to eat in captivity before, but it was not a milk snake. It was a garter lol. But how long do you suggest i wait for him to eat before releasing?
