Hi first timer.

C&K Corns

New member
Hello everyone. I'm new to the whole forum thing (not to reptiles though) so I'm not real sure what I'm doing. I have 2 blizzard corns, 1 male and 1 female, both about 2 1/2 feet long and a 5 foot female snow corn.

Welcome to our "family". We love pics so we can't wait to see some! And there are tons of people here to answer all kinds of questions.

It is the sex of the animal. The first number is the male, the second is female and the third is unknown..for example like mine.. 9.13 corns means I have nine males and thirteen females. And if I had unknowns it would be 9.13.1. So 0.0.1 means unknown, 0.1 means one female and 1.0 means one male. Hope that helps!

Welcome to the forum. Lots of experienced people here should you need any help. But I warn you, they will feed your addiction. ;)

How true, how true!! I started with one corn, a one-eyed pet store corn, in January and...well you can see in my signature how many we have. We also have becomed a licensed business with permits and Federal ID number (for taxes since they made my husband and I file as a partnership). We have one corn that we are waiting to drop her clutch and another who we just bred for the first time this week. It is a very exciting hobby but also it takes time, proper care and patience....a lot of males don't eat during breeding season and it can become frustrating. But it is all worth it!! And after having everything from fish to Rottweilers in the past, snakes are much easier to take care of! They are also very interesting and fun!

Hi there and Welcome :D Gini is right we love pics. And Gothpixel is also correct that this site gives fuel to the addiction lol. I started with 2 in Dec. now I have 11, still not as many as 4riscron, but I have helped her acquire at least 1 corn lol

Welcome! You'll want to get a copy of Kathy Love's book. It's a great reference, and belongs on the shelf of every corn keeper. It's available from Amazon and other places, but you can get it directly from Kathy at www.cornutopia.com.

Again, welcome and enjoy.

Welcome! This website is filled with snake enablers. I went from 1 corn snake to 9 corn snakes & 1 BP since last October. I have more snakes arriving next month. We love pictures, so please share some!

Yea, when we first started, Mike, my hubby, was certain we would only have corns! And now we have a BP, a Brazilian Rainbow Boa, a Diones Ratsnake and a Rosy Boa with 2 more coming next month! I love them so much and wish we would have started this in our earlier years instead of in our 40s but Mike always said "A good snake is a dead snake." And then it ended up being his decision to get the first cornsnake! Funny how things happen huh?
I have so many pics that the site wouldn't let me put any more albums on here but there are some posted in threads I have started or replied in. There are some great pics of so many different snakes on here...take a look when you get time. And add some of yours for us!

If you order directly from Kathy's site, she and her husband sign the book for you. And I agree with Caryl...it is a must have. I also have Don Soderberg's book "Corn Snakes in Captivity" that is a nice little book to have. And there is a the "Cornsnake Morph Guide" by Charles Pritzel that shows you different types of morphs and explains them really well.

I looked at the book that I already have and its the kathy love book that your talking about. So that cool I've got somewhat of a start on things.
