Hi, my name is Rosanne and I just got a new baby corn snake about a month ago now. I am very new to snakes but had wanted one all my adult life and I finally made the plunge. I am a HUGE animal lover. I am owned by a dog, 2 beardies, and 3 geckos. When I got my snake last month I was a little nervous but fell in love with her, at least I think it's a her, immediately. She was so very tame from the moment I picked her up and very calm. She was two young to sex at the time so I will get that done when she's 6 months old. If she is a she her name will be Scarlett and if a boy, Milo. Right now I call her ScarlettMilo. She's a 100% het caramel 100% het amel. Also on the papers where her picture is it says 2013 DH Butter 1. I hope someone understands that an can explain it to me. Bare with me as I don't know if I got that right. I'm reading it from her papers. I just want to say hi to everyone :wavey: and look forward to being on this forum. I'm going to need a lot of help. :) Pictures are coming when I can install my paint shop pro as I have a new computer.

Welcome! I am guessing the DH Butter means she is double het for the genes needed to make the butter morph. I'm no breeder, though.

I also liked snakes my entire life but took the plunge when I was 30! Now I have a little collection and I enjoy it a lot. We also have a beardie and 2 geckos (crested and leopard).

Hello and welcome!
I'd also guess that DH Butter is double het for Amel and Caramel, which together is called a Butter. Not sure on the number though, it isn't marked out as 1.0, is it? It's actually somewhat easier, for most breeders anyway, to sex younger snakes by popping and that can pretty much be done any time after hatching, though most wait until their first shed and/or after their first meal.
If the number is just a 1, I'm not sure what that might be. But it's a bit of short hand in the reptile world to write out genders in numbers, ie. 1.2.3 is one male, male is first, two female and 3 gender unknown. So if it's written 1.0 it would be saying the snake is a male but if it's just a 1, it might still be saying that or could be referring to something else entirely.

Thank you for all your hello's. I don't know what the 1 means either but I can ask the gentleman I bought her off of Tavia. It's just a one. He told me she was too young to probe (I think they call it) and he wasn't comfortable popping.
I was able to get a picture sized properly so here she is:

Very pretty! Yeah, if someone is more comfortable probing, that you want them bigger for.

aha but ill caution ya, their addicting as ever!

(I got my first at 19, second at 20, and am looking into my third for my 21st birthday which is coming up!! HOPING to finally get my western hognose..) I figure one a year isn't TOO bad, many others grow their collections in months!!!!
