Highest safe temperature

What is the highest safe temperature on the warm side I can set? I currently have Charisma's set at 85. I notice it runs anywhere from 83.6 to 86.7. What is the highest it can get on the warm side and not hurt her? Thanks.

I don't have years of experience, but months of research would lead to agree with AliCat. Wouldn't push 90F, though as long as there's room and a decent gradient for the snake to escape to cooler temps, fluctuations into the upper 80s shouldn't be a problem. Would definitely try to avoid it though. Your temps seem pretty solid really.

I've also been worrying about this. When I saw the warm side of my terrarium was hitting 86-87, I turned it down to 84 from 85. Going by the answers here the higher temperatures I was getting aren't that big a deal, but I think it's something to keep in mind if you're living in an area where the outside temperature is going to get really high-the comfortable range for snakes is 80-85, if you're leaving the house and don't have climate control on, make sure your thermostat is set for the lower end of their comfortable spectrum to accomodate possible spikes in temperature.

That seems reasonable. Make sure you adjust it as the weather gets hotter. And I always keep mine cooler in the summer just in case the AC fails, too. It's happened several times!!

Asking the question that way can be dangerous! So much depends on airflow, ambient room temps, and other factors.

Where are you taking temperatures (floor of cage, on top of substrate)? With what type thermometer? In most setups, the range you are showing sounds fine.

This is an excellent point. As ironic as it sounds, I have to turn mine down at night because it still really chilly here overnight, so the house heat is on for longer periods of time and the rooms ambient temperature increases.
