Hip hip horray! I finally got my first pip today!

Unfortunately, none of the pet stores around here sell live pinkie's for feeding anymore. They've all gone to frozen only. When I got my first corn snake Diamond 5 yrs ago, I use to feed her live. The only place that sold them was at the mall pet store. Since then though they've closed the store/reopened it with a different name and now don't even sell corn snakes/where I got Diamond....and they've stopped ordering live pinkie's once a week like they use too.

I was wondring if I could try crikets? I know at the pet stores they sell those for really cheap and sometimes I've seen crikets in their corn snake cages...don't know what you all thought on me trying that?

I was told once by a snake keeping fellow that his baby corn sod eat crickets... he swore it to me! Won't hurt I guess...

Maybe you can buy a pregnant mouse somewhere?

That is what I was going to suggest.:) In fact, I have done that, before, and it is something that I am going to look for this year (for my non-feeders).

I guess you could try though it is not something I would do. I would be concerned about the digestibility, of the carapace, and, unless dusted, would be concerned about a lack of calcium/nutrients needed. On Calcium, I think I read somewhere that crickets have a high phosphorus, to calcium, ratio (this isn't nutritionally good unless you even it out a bit by dusting with calcium). Not to mention that crickets can carry parasites (take care on where you get crickets from).

Okay, I will only try the crikets later down the road. Where would I find calcium supplements at? Do they usually carry them at the reglar pet stores? or do you order online? I've never seen any dusting calcium at the ptstores but don't really know what to look for.

Some pet stores carry it (calcium for reptiles)... if the store has reptile supplies, it likely carries calcium ... or you can order it, online, from most any company that sells reptile supplies. Best if it has D3 in it.

Well, all the places I know would be a drive for you..but here goes.. Vincennes,IN 47591 has pet stores that sell live feeders (both pregnant females and babies).

I also know a fancy rat breeder in Indy, that might be willing to give you used shavings for scenting.

Well, that is pretty far to drive. I'm going to see and make sure they do not order the pinks at the mall pet store tomroow afternoon. I am also going to go to petsmart/petco to ask about bedding for scenting. Good news, I got one of the non-feeders to finally take it's first pinkie on Monday morning...didn't do much of anything different but I guess it was just finally hungry enough to eat..it was baby # 3 which was a snow. So that is good news. I still have two of the ones I am wanting to sell that hasn't eaten at all and my two that I am keeping that still refuse to eat. All the rest have now ate twice, except baby 16 who has only eaten 1 time.

Finally some updated photos!

Here are some updated photos of all the little ones....
Here is baby 7 which is a ghost-also one that refuses to eat.
