I'd have set my limit a lot lower, but (aside from getting carried away) I got lucky--my parents have embraced the scaly things, and then some! My dad has claimed the beardie as his, and my mom is about $200 and a nice enclosure away from becoming a fellow hobbyist/addict by way of a Dumeril's boa (which fits with Dad's desire for a large snake of his very own).
That is so cool. It makes all the difference in the world when your family is interested in your hobby. My ex hated snakes and wasn't fond of other pets either, and it created a rift between us towards the end. I didn't like being told "no" and she didn't like me spending so much time caring for animals. Plus, now I don't have to corner people to share photos and when one of them sheds there's someone else to ooh and aah over it with me! It's so much more exciting that way!
I have two snakes which my wife is ok with. My spousal limit was set not only because of two snakes but also ... 2 leo geckos, 1 bearded dragon, 3 dogs, 2 fish tanks, 1 hermit crab, and a cockatiel.
That's a very nice and diverse collection you have there.
Tara and I have exactly 30 snakes of our own right now, and my sister's two snakes live here as well. We actually have several empty cages right now, only one of which I know for sure will go to a snake, probably a boa of some sort. With money being tight we are limited right now, but there are certainly creatures that, once funds are better in the fall, we will be looking for. Right now we're focusing on solidifying our breeding plans. A lot of our snakes are still small, and won't be ready to breed until about 2012. By then, we hope the economy will have rebounded.
In addition to the snakes, we've got several small mammals, two dogs, two cats, the bird and three fish tanks. Along with some other non-snake herps, too. I am always tinkering with our herp room to see if I can find ways to make it hold more critters.

We keep selling our furniture to improve the space-- I think the couch has gotta go. Ha!
