I am in the worst situation - please help

Oh no! I'm sorry! I can't offer any help here. The only times I lost a snake I found him before I knew he had gotten out (on the towel rack in the bathroom. He scared the poop out of me before I realized he was mine. ;-p). Here's hoping little peanut shows up soon!

Nw Heather is right about the diatomaceous earth. My dog had fleas which got in my bedroom where I keep my snake & bit me. I bought some DE & dusted the floor (also used frontline on both the dog & cat) & bye bye fleas. No harm came to my snakey either. Hope you find peanut.

We also used an insect growth hormone inhibitor many years ago. It was called Precor - not sure if it is still available, or goes by another name these days. It only affects insects, and when sprayed on floors (especially carpets), it lasts for several months, and does not allow larvae to mature to adulthood, thus breaking their life cycle. You could use that along with the other products mentioned, and avoid the flea bomb. The Advantage / Frontline on the cat will make short work of the adult fleas already present. Our cats have not gone outside for years, so we have not had any fleas to contend with. But it worked great when we needed it.

Of course, fleas are just one of the many reasons to consider keeping your cat inside, or inside with access to a screened porch only. We had many cats back in the '70s and '80s. I got so tired of seeing them killed by cars, dogs, attacked by other cats, and catching feline leukemia and feline AIDS, that I finally gave up on the idea of outside cats entirely. Since then, the only cats I ever lost have been 15+ years old, and had to be put to sleep because of age related problems.

Anyway, if you avoid the bug bombs, and use the masking tape strips on the walls, barely brushing the floor, sticky side out, and check around every night with a flashlight after the house is dark and quiet for a while, there is a good chance you will find him. Once the cat is back inside, watch him carefully. He may well notice the snake's presence by smell or sound before you do, and can alert you if you pay attention.

diatomaceous earth you can get it in the pool part of walmart or lows. homedepot it is also good of any insect. What it does it makes the outside of the insect weak and cause the shell to break killing the Insect. Boams are crapy and never work.

I used DE to treat some fleas and it works well. I recalled reading this on a website regarding pool filter DE and figured I'd share it. I have no personal knowledge as to how true this is....

FYI": Diatomaceous Earth sold for swimming pool filters is dangerous to human health, your pets and Livestock. It has been chemically treated and heated to change it's composition and contains large amounts of crystaline silica which damages the lungs and can cause silicosis. It will kill fleas but it might kill you too!

When looking for a lost snake, make sure you look up. Ledges, shelves, dressers, pictures on the wall. They feel safe when they are off the ground. Have you gone through your dresser drawers, pulling out all the clothes and shaking them out? I had a snake get into the bedding of my dog's crate in the middle of the night and scare the heck out of my dog (she got bitten, too, but it was a juvie corn, so she lived, lol).

I'd like to see you rescue your snake before any chemicals are introduced, flea bombs, but your roommates have the right to do what they feel is necessary to control the fleas. I would highly recommend finding better roommates.

I would say if you are going to use DE use food grade.

Any luck? How did your tape traps work over night?

My poor other roommate is getting crap about her cat...they want to kick it out too (I have 4 roommates + myself). I'm still at work, but hopefully Peanut will be stuck on tape when I go home:/

Capstar for the cat and diatomaceous earth for the apartment...no fleas, no danger to the snake!

O.M.G. PEANUT WAS FOUND!!!! :crazy01: I was at work today and I got a call from my roommate! Before she bombed the place with flea killing chemicals, she had to unplug all of the appliances...when she went to unplug her old mini-fridge in her room (kept closed with DUCT TAPE) she found him stuck on the tape!!!! This was MINUTES before she nuked the place! I was so lucky and I am so happy! He was taken to a friends place while our apartment aired out. Now I am off work and going to pick my little baby up!

Thank-you all for your support! Do you think that I should clean his terranium/bedding before I put him in? I am going to feed him and then celebrate!

Well, that's great and all...but the solutions that others pointed out are far safer for every living thing involved than what was done....so no one listened there.
And that part about throwing the cat out because it had fleas made me upset. The cat is a living feeling thing and needs those fleas taken care of instead of being tossed out with the traffic.....

But I am glad your boy is home.

Happy to hear he is back (see how well tape works, lol?)!

But I have to agree with Bethany:

Maybe you need to find a place with more sensitive and caring roommates?

Good luck - hope he can't get out again!
