I have a baby green spot corn snake I bought at the local reptile show on September 28. I bought him and two others from a very reputable dealer and the other two are doing awesome!! The problem is Jose, my baby green spot snow. I brought them all home placed them in their individual enclosures and waited 3 days before feeding, I wasn't sure when they were fed last but supposing that they came from WI all the way to KC, MO for the show I'm sure they were fed before leaving giving them enough time to digest safely before traveling, then add the three days to get comfortable and accustomed to their new home. I fed him a small pinky and he ate get, 10/2, then I fed him again on 10/10. He accepted the pinky readily and then I put him in his enclosure about 35 minutes after he was done and left him. He regurgitated the pinky on 10/12, so after doing thorough research (internet, forums, books) I left him be for 7-10 days and tried offering a pinky head on 10/19, which he refused, didn't give it much thought, left him until 10/20 and tried again, to no avail, waited and again I tried today, nothing. I have been so worried about him, I feel like I am just sitting here watching him waste away. I couldn't take it anymore, so I called Mark Miles of Miles of Exotics, one of the very reputable breeders in our area and consulted with him. After teasing, braining, everything but force feeding since I am new to this, have never done it and was not comfortable doing it myself, I drove the hour to see Mark for help.
At the store Mark took a look at Jose and tried braining a pinky there at the store and leaving him for a hour, nothing. He was also concerned about some dark black areas on his ventral side, pics attached, he thought it could possibly be blood. His conclusion, Jose probably will not make it.
We are now at home, Jose is in his enclosure, I put the brained pinky in there with him, hoping and waiting for the worst I guess.
I believe the reason I am writing is because I would like to see if anyone knows what these dark black colored areas are? Is it really blood, feces or something else? He has never been dropped or mishandled to my knowledge.
Here is a picture, a very bad one at that, of the smallest of the black areas, but the darkest.
