I Hatched a Fire Stripe!..... I think.

Just curious, why would you think it's an old thread?

On topic: That snake is GORGEOUS!!!!

Because this is what happens sometimes when I post before the coffee has kicked in and I'm up a lot earlier than I'm used to.... Please disregard the "old post" comment while I go be embarrassed for a while :dunce:

If you still aren't 100% positive on which morph he is, a lot of the time I've seen on blood stripes that they get a lot of red bleeding into the white on their bellys. It's not 100% accurate at all, but if there is a lot of blood-like bleeding on the belly then I would say it's a good chance that he's a fire stripe. Just my two cents from what I've seen at a breeders stock. He is really gorgeous regardless of what he is!!! I love the cubes. :)

Sparky's belly.jpg

Thanks! Here's a picture of his belly, and he does seem to have some bleeding going on. I am pretty confident he is a fire stripe, having seen pictures of other definite fire stripes that look so similar to him. For example, compare his first baby picture to the definite fire stripes that Nanci hatched and posted on the following links:

I will definitely try to prove him out as soon as he is ready, though.

This one is a hard call but I would lean toward stripe het fire . The belly looks more striped and he has a lot of side pattern. If you notice Nanci animals dont have much pattern in the neck going down the sides . Yours has going way down the sides. The head pattern looks like it is more of a Blood Stripe. Just my 2 cents

Definite Blood Stripe Half Sibling
blood stripe baby.jpg

Regarding the side pattern, I noticed that Sparky's half brother, who is a definite blood stripe, also has a fair amount of striping down his sides. He is from the same blood stripe het amel male bred to a bloodred het amel stripe female. He's the only other striped sibling I got this year. Unfortunately I didn't get end up getting any fire stripes out of that clutch.

I don't know what I thought fire stripe hatchlings would look like, but speaking of mine, I am kind of amazed by how pale they are. (Of course mine could be homo hypo too, no way to tell). Like peach color, almost.

I lean towards fire with your babe, based on the head. And away from fire for Nate's, for the same reason. Just a generalization, but in my hatchlings, the bloods have more of a grey-head pattern than non-bloods, and the striped bloods have even _less_ pattern on the head than the saddled bloods.

then if both stripes came from 2 bloood red parents then they are both blood stripes. The problem is a lot of the blood stock is very out crossed and I been seeing pic's and proudced bloods myself with high contrast pattern that look more like a hypo or a clean looking normal with very little black to no black. this makes them very hard to identify in pattern and color morphs

BTW did you ever breed the female you got off me

No, only the blood stripe came from homo blood parents. The presumed fire stripe came from an amel het diffused stripe mother bred to the same blood stripe father that produced the blood stripe baby. So I'm not 100% sure on the fire stripe but will try to prove him out as soon as he is ready.

I did try to breed the female I got from you to the blood stripe het amel that fathered these two, but unfortunately she got eggbound and passed away on me. I was bummed. She was so pretty! And none of her eggs survived either.

Having some side striping does not eliminate Fire Stripe. Blood Stripes can have neck &/or some side striping.
Similar to a Blood, that does not show great diffusion, a Blood Stripe can be the same (only with side striping rather than side pattern).

Yes I agree read post 52, Not to be cocky or anything. I been working with blooddred stripe project before anyone else on this board. Larry Keller did the first cross of a amel stripe to a leach/bell stock bloodred. I bought 1.2 animals from that cross. Yep the problem is there was no quality control when out crossing the original blood stock

Here's a new photo of Sparky looking even brighter and more diffused. He seems to get prettier with each shed.

Seraphina

I recently obtained a future mate for him in a trade. This is Seraphina, a name which actually means fire and serpent. She is a definite fire stripe. Thanks, Terri Crackerhead!

Oh pretty! One of my fire babies that went to Josie got named Serafina. I am so stealing that name some day.
