I got this female on jan, 15 and she looked pregnant then but never had babies so I assumed she was just very fat!! But now I really think she is pregnant and she also won't let the male breed with her!!

is she normally cohabited with the male?
if so, there's a good chance she's pregnant...because she REALLY looks pregnant.
 
That mouse is pregnant!! In a few more weeks you are gonna here the pitter patter of little squeeks! LOL!

Unless you have been feeding golf balls!

Yes she's been with the male off and on and you think in a few weeks she will have babies? she looks pretty ready now except her nipples aren't showing yet!! Also would i be able to keep her with the colony? Or should I seperate her in a few weeks? Thanks, Melissa
 
She looks the part... If you can, keep her with the colony. If you find the mice fighting over the babies or a couple of them eaten then you might wanna seperate. I have only had to seperate one litter in the 3 months I have been doing this.
 
Thanks, I have bred mice like 4 years ago but I did it as a genetic project and end up selling all the males for snake food!! But now I am raising them as snake food for my 2 corn snakes. Melissa
 
I am not gonna tell you how many colonies of mice I have! I have mine set at a 1.4 - 1.5 ratio. I very rarely have a problem with them staying in the colony. Usually all the moms will all take care of the all the young. If a problem does arise, I usually single out the perpetrator and serve her as lunch the next feeding day! LOL!

Holding a rat or mouse by the base of its tail doesn't hurt it. :) As long as its the base! She definitely looks preggers!
 
Thanks and yes I sure hope she is pregnant and I knew she was a fawn satin and white and thats what I am worried about as satin's have low fertility and can die giving birth and I had one die giving birth!! So I hope she does good otherwise I will remove her from the colony!! And yes I was holding her by the tail and it doesn't hurt them as long as you hold them by the base but they will fight you!! And don't try holding a rat by the tail I learned the hard way it bit me and hard drew blood!! Thanks, melissa
