I want to.....

Yes. You are completely correct in your statement. And i am aware of it. I know my snakes would prefer to live in Florida then here with me, and i keep them out of selfishness. I try to clear my consious to take exceptionally good care of all my pets. Still, i am aware i'm not really doing them a favor. Pure selfishness :/

Hate to tell you this, but with the above statment, you are contridicting yourself. You say that you are upset about everyone having animals as pets...then you say that if there was a law banning pet, you would still keep them. If you really think that pets are not to be kept, and a law does get passed, then you should be the first person to give them up. But, with you statement you show that you don't fully believe everything that you just said.

Nope. I did consider though. But then again, i also should stop drinking milk, eating eggs, wearing leather shoes ect. Not really possible. Instead i eat little meat, and what i eat is biological meat more often then not. Other then that i don't eat lamb or calf or goose ect. I don't think there is a problem with eating meat in general. Just with the way we treat them because we want the meat as cheap as possible. Biological meat is more expensive then regulair. However, i try to do my share. If all humans would buy biological meet millions of animal lives would better. And if we eat a little less meat we need fewer animals to begin with.

I do claim emotions on animals. Just not as complex as on humans. But what would that matter? Is it oke to treat an animal a certain way because they aren't like humans? They feel pain like we do.
And intelligence doesn't really matter. Dolphins and apes are among the most intelligent creatures. Yet they don't get a mite of different treatment then the exceptionally dumb ones. shouldn't our intelligence be used to benefit out less intelligent creatures? Or simply belittle them because they are not and use them without pity or regret?

Your a vegan I assume?

Why do you put your emotions on an animal, and claim that is what they want? It is what you want, not what the animal wants. You need to get that straight.

The reason why we are the higher spieces is because we are intelligent.

At least he knows he's a hypocrite

All this talk of meat is making me hungry anyone for a bucket of KFC?

Do vegans have problems with bread? All those poor yeasts thrown into an oven and slowly roasted to death. Yuck.

I am gonna stick to meat. No sense in being an apex predator if you are having tofu....

Its funny you response to my post as if I support animal abuse etc..

I won't put an animal's life over mine or another human being for that matter. Or give an animal more respect then I would have for other people.

But in my world not 95% of it is negative, as yours. Your very extreme in your statements you have no balance.

I do claim emotions on animals

I am sure you can back your theory up with facts?

You have to remember, in Jicin's world a rack system is abuse, so 95% is probably right in that skewed world.

OTOH I was really surprised to see animal rape listed first. Must be different in the EU, perhaps we should ask Mr. Poots for a different Netherlands view.

I did forget to mention.....

I am a proud member of P.E.T.A. and whole heartedly support their position. ;)

(I won't touch the other subject for obvious reasons. :D)

*drops in to add her 2 cents*

Do I think its wrong to keep pets? No, I think there are lots of animals that are better off with our help and care. there are some people who shouldnt be allowed to have pets but then there are some people who shouldnt be allowed to reproduce, they do.
I eat meat, because thats is what I am meant to do for my place in the plan of life.
we wouldnt be the evolved speices we are today if we didnt eat meat.

But... To me, It was wrong of us to make these animals dependant on humans, We screwed up, and we as a human race will eventually pay for it. I think it helps that those of us who are good, responsible pet owners, do our part to make sure that the creatures we have made depentant are able to survive as a speices. We will never be able to go back. We will always be an influence to those creatures.
We love and admire our animals, but its wasnt right for us to take away what they had.
I know that aminals are happy living lives with us, but they have no idea what it was that their Ancestors had, or what it feels like not to be dependant on us. If they were intellegent enough to chose, what would they?
As humans all we seem to do is take, not everything was put here for us but we asume it was. we are very selfish as a race. And someday we will regret it. I dont know what everyones relgious beliefs are, but it is possible that through evolution, we will one day loose our place as domiant organisms. Who will be the pet then?

I think y'all are being a little harsh to Jicin. She's made a real effort to be less condemning since the whole rack system thing, and here she's just giving her opinion and not even being mean about it. She's just saying that she doesn't think animals should have been domesticated in the first place, but she isn't saying that no one should keep animals now. That is her opinion, and she has a right to it. She's not forcing it on anyone.

Remember, everyone told her not to be insulting. She's tried really hard not to be since then, so I think y'all should give her the same courtesy.

You got it Brownie! Pass the gravy please.

That is entirely dependent upon your religious beliefs. :)

All animals would prefer to live free and we really have no right to confine them.

Sounds exactly like she is saying no one should keep animals now. But then all I have is her words....

Either way, if that is her opinion, let her have it. She is not forcing it on you, just adding to a conversation.

Duck, geese, dove, quail, pheasant........

I love grilling wild game, especially quail. :bird:

Deer is too much work and usually involves being cold. Not a good combo in my lazy mind.:)

hehe, good idea. deer is a pain, and i'd much rather shoot birds. Deer remind me too much of dogs :( unfotunately the only local game i have is seagulls. The only reason i'd shoot them is to get them to shut up.
