If Only Dreams Came True

BeckyG

Making it up as I go
My dream was this:

I was driving home from the local lake. As I passed the company I work for, I spotted a huge normal/wild corn snake on the side of a ditch (which in real life isn't there--the ditch, not the snake). I slammed on my breaks and got out of my truck. I ran across the road and grabbed this beautiful snake. As I was checking out my new acquisition, I looked down and saw a huge anery corn snake on the ground as well. I grabbed him up, too. I was holding these two corns, one in each hand when I spotted an anery hatchling on the ground. Suddenly, I also spotted an amel and a snow hatchling. I thought of the two in my hands, "These must be the parents of all those hatchlings." (The normal had, on closer inspection, turned out to be an amel.)

I was trying to figure out how to pick up the hatchlings without losing my two adults, even trying to put the anery under my arm, when who should drive up in a brown van, but Dean. Yes, our very own Roy Munson. He was wearing a suit, and had apparently been at a business dinner or something. I was much more casually dressed, shorts and t-shirt since I'd been at the lake. He asked me what was going on, and I handed him the two adult snakes, saying, "Here, hold these two. I'm going to go get those hatchlings." It was a muddy ditch. I didn't want him to get his suit dirty. :D

As I got close enough to the ditch to see down into it, I saw, not just the three hatchlings I'd first spotted, but hundreds and hundreds of hatchling and juvenile corn snakes of all different morphs. My jaw dropped in astonishment, and I headed toward the bottom of the ditch to get them, and ....

Why does the stupid alarm have to go off just when the dream is getting good?

Hey...... You stole my dream. I have patent rights to it. I'm calling my lawyer :grin01:

Good dream...... nite nite........

hahaha...i have a re-occurring dream where there are just tons of corn snakes (or other similar snakes) just EVERYWHERE when i go outside and all i do in the dream is try to catch them all. i think the underlying theme though is me picking things up off the ground. because i also have this other dream where i'm CONSTANTLY finding quarters and silver dollars all over the ground and i'm just picking them up. it wont even be the point of the dream...in the dream i'll be working or just doing something and i'll look on the ground and theres just 100 dollars of change on the ground. its gotten to a point where in the dream i KNOW it's just a dream and i'm like...come on i know this is a dream this sucks...

I have a book about dream symbolism, just for fun here's some of the interpretations for what you dreamed that I looked up
lake - inner feelings and fantasies
reptiles, snakes - our connection to the basic spinal and lower brain reactions - fight or flight, reproduction, need for food, reaction to pain
clothing - stance or attitude, other people's clothes represent the social attitudes and responses we have adopted from others, feelings towards that person
car - motivating drives, driving a car - independence
brown - earthiness, depression, concealment
mud - the primordial basis of life and how we relate to it

(from the Dream Dictionary by Tony Crisp)
I actually keep a notebook and this book by my bed, so I can jot down my dreams in the morning before I forget.

Believe it or not, this is the strangest part of the dream. The awake world seldom sees me in a suit. ;)

I've had very similar dreams. Sometimes there are so many corn snakes, kings, and rosy boas on the ground that I risk injuring them by just walking around. I'm usually under some kind of unknown pressure to collect as many as I can, but the faster I attempt to collect them, the more I risk stepping on them. Weird.

I'm honored to have been part of your dream. :) Next time, feel free to drag me into that ditch to help. We'll collect enough dream-morphs to offset the cost of the dream-cleaning-bill. :grin01:

I have a similar recurring dream too.
I'm driving along and see a corn on the side of the road. I stop and try to pick it up, but my hands don't work. I pick it up with my feet, but then I can't get back to the car.

I have often had dreams where I am outside flipping things over, looking under bushes, digging in loose soil, etc., and I find lots of corns of various ages and morphs. I get so excited! :crazy02:

I have such weird dreams though, once I dreamed that I received someone else's shipment of turtles, and I had no idea what to do w/ them. I didn't know what kind they were, and there was no return address. Then another box came and when I opened that one tons of huge insects just started pouring out of it.

Another time I dreamed that I had somehow inherited / acquired someone's reptile collection and it was insanely huge, all kinds of animals. Way too many for me to handle. So I had an "open house" so people could come buy them. There were so many animals they were even getting out of their cages and crawling around on the shelves and the floor.

WEIRD!

Cool. I've had some like that too. In one dream I was going to Don S's house for some reason, and as I was walking up the sidewalk I suddenly noticed that he had all these cool morphs I'd never seen before just sitting out front in clear display tanks. He was like, "here, you want this one?"

I've noticed that my dreams are almost always a reflection of thoughts I'd had during that day, and sometimes the day before. It's almost like the tape is rewinding and I'm catching little chunks of it. Not really a direct reflection, but kinda like when you see your face reflected in a wavy pool and different elements get melded together.

I think that the the symbolism of reptiles in your dreams would not be the same as it would for others. ;) (For herpers they wouldn't be a primitive reptilian brain thing, but would represent something more like an object of desire or a goal.)

My "interpretation" would be that you had been thinking of breeding possibilities, what you might need in order to hatch something, you had run into a wide range of answers as to what you might get out of them, and were finding that it was difficult to try to decide which direction to go.

I've found that, for me, people generally don't represent the person but some characteristic I might have associated with that person. (And in a lot of my dreams one individual will be an amalgam of several people, and I can recognize the different people within the one.) Dean's showing up may have been Dean or someone else, or nobody in particular, that you thought could help, or maybe someone you thought you could have cooperated with (like a breeding loan.)

Although that really says nothing, because who here doesn't go through that line of thought on a regular basis. ;)

Many you guys are lucky. My dreams are usually creepy.

I do have lots of dreams where my own corn snake talks to me. I'd say it happens once every couple of months. One night I dreampt that he sent me a text message on my phone. He sent a pic showing that he was injured and said I had to get home fast. :shrugs:

I'm sure if the alarm hadn't gone off, you'd have been right down in there with me.

I don't know why in particular it was Dean who showed up. Maybe it was because of the extensive rack system he had built in that brown van of his--in my dream, of course. Plenty of room to keep the hatclings in. (That is somthing I remembered after I had posted, or I'd have put it in the first time.

I think it does say a lot about me and who I am that the "hero" of my dream is not the knight in shining armor who comes in and sweeps me off my feet to carry me off to his shining castle by the sea where he will treat me like a queen for the rest of my life. Rather, my 'hero" is the one I know I can trust with my snakes. I guess that tells where my priorities are.

I like the 'snake mobile' idea!
Lol, snake superhero Dean shows up with his magic snakemobile to rescue herpers in distress!
To the bat-cave er... I mean, snake room!

That would be one suh-weet van. If I could only find gimbaled water bowls... :grin01:

If you ever get it built, let me know...
If I do, I'll be cruisin' through Mississippi with it. It'll be the one with the tear-drop side windows, and the '70s style murals of half-naked women and corn snakes painted on the sides. :grin01:

I had a dream last night that I went to Carol H.'s house. I've only seen one picture of Carol, and the woman of the house didn't look like that photo, but I knew it was her. Her husband was Bill Love. They showed me the snake facility, and it was something Dr. Evil might have built. Everything was brushed aluminum, chrome, and tinted glass. The display cases were self-watering and cleaning. I left her house very angry that I could never afford her "quasi-futuristic" setup! Weird. :shrugs:
