Well i get easily confused for starters and am slowly learning genetics on a whole.

First pairing

Ultramel x Amel
offspring
ultramel
amel
are the ultramels het for amel

second pairing ghost(het stripe) x Ghost (het stripe)

offspring
ghost stripe
ghost
snow


my question here is what are the parents het for and the babies

third pairing

normal x Reverse albino

offspring
normal
anery
ghost

same question as above

fourth pairing

normal x ghost

offspring

ghost
normal
normal motley

any help would be greatly appreciated

1) No, Ultramel is the combination of Ultra and Amel, which reside on the same locus, making it impossible for an animal to express one while being het for the other.

2) They're actually hypo snows. It looks like this pair was het amel!

3) Normal is het hypo and anery, your reverse okeetee is het hypo and anery as well.

4) Your normal is het hypo, anery, and motley while your ghost is het motley.

I may be a beginner with snakes, but I do know basic genetics- despite my moments of stupidity here and there.

The thing that made it all make sense for me was using a punnett square and understanding co-dominant traits, which initially was confusing.

thanks fopr everyones replies there much appreciated and i will get pictures up as soon as everyone sheds. Another two clutches hatched both were bred with athe same male ultramel.

the first female is a normal and the offspring were ultramel,anery,albino, snow, and normal

second female is a hypo offspring were ultramel, albino, anery, and ghost. So what would these snakes hets be. also what are the odds of any of the offspring being het ultramel
