I'm not sure where to post this devastating news

Crazy Critter Lady
I just found poor Issis dead. I went to feed Hades, Jewel and Scarlet. I check on everyone when anyone gets fed. I noticed Issis was laying oddly and went to investigate. She was colder than usual and was not breathing, I could find no pulse or feel any movement. She was slightly stiff when I picked her up. It happened so fast. I saw her moving this morning, then we went out for a few hours. I knew she was acting off and had an appointment for later this week. I'm sorry, I'm kind of in shock. . .honestly the vet had already advised me to put her down if she had an RI as it would be best with all we found wrong. I just did not think she would give in on her own. She seemed to be getting better. I am trying to not blame myself, but its so hard. . .Ixxi will take her appointment to make sure he does not have something that may have helped kill her. I will have the vet look her over to tell me if he can find a deffinitive cause of death or if it was accumilative. I know her liver levels were off . . .maybe she just shut down. My poor baby, my poor girl. . .

I feel so numb. I shouldn't be this shocked, she came to me in rough shape. I had her almost 3 months. . .This is harder than when I lost my non-feeders last fall.

I think after the vet does his exam I might have her cremated. She went through so much. I'll let you guys know if anything major is found or if her body just finally gave out.

My husband looked her over when he came home, wanted to be sure she was really gone. He found her mouth full of blood. We think something may have ruptured inside and we did not even know. If this is what happened I can only hope she did not suffer. The poor thing : * (

I am sorry for your loss... I hope you find out what happened. Its noones fault.. And you did way more for her than a lot of snake owners do for their snakes.. Therefore, you did all you could and I know she is greatful for that. But sometimes things just happen.. She is no longer suffering..

Well that is sad news. I must have missed your posts on her poor health. Last I read, they were both just overweight. I'm sure you did your very best and that's all anyone can do. Again...I'm so sorry.

 I'm so truly sorry that you lost her. We get attached so quickly to them that even a short time w/us hurts more than we thought it would. You did your best for her & are now going to take more precautions w/her brother. :) At least you took great care of her & sometimes that's all we can do. Please do keep us posted on your other baby & any findings.
My heart goes out to you. ((((hugs))))

I have been like a hawk with Ixxi since last night. Barely slept. He seems fine. He is getting more muscle tone. I need new pics. He eats with such gusto. Honestly I think Issis was always a little off. Tomorrow I take her to the vet and Ixxi will get a look over too. Run another fecal, check his liver levels and such again. I had taken Issis in for a lot of stuff. My vet was so concerned about her that since I had a good history with him he let me have a line of credit. I owe him about $400 for all he did for Issis and a lot of it was what he called a Humane Discount for services to the welfare of animals. He said its one way he can donate to help animals and know it gets used to actually help the animals and not line someones pocket. I'll be able to pay him next month when I have my tax return. We use H&R Block, I know a lot of people think they are bad but we have yet to have any problems. Anyway, thank you all for being here. To cheer me up one of my mice presented me with a litter of 11 pups :p and Ixxi pooed on me lol.

I am sorry to hear about your loss. I hope she didn't suffer either. But it sounds like it was pretty fast.

I'm sorry for your loss. We do all we can for them, and in the end nature must take its course. Good luck with Ixxi, I hope he pulls through.

Vet says Ixxi looks and sounds good, drew some blood, got a fecal sample. He will call me when he has finished with Issis tonight or tomorrow. He did say the blood in the mouth speaks of 3 things usually, tumor, rupture or extreme ulser (sp?), he'll know more soon.

 I'm so very happy to hear that Ixxi made out so well at his physical. That's such great news. My he continue to thrive & shine in your loving home. Thank you so very much for keeping us updated on his progress. I can't wait to see recent pics of your gorgeous boy. :dancer:
Any word yet on the COD of Issis? At least now you know that there was nothing more you could have done for her. I know that probably doesn't ease the loss of her, but it helps to know that you took wonderful care of her. :)
