Which is smarter a dog or a cat? I can train a dog to go get the paper. You’ve never seen a cat do that. So which is smarter the one sleeping on the couch or the one doing the manual labor?

Women are obviously smarter than men. They can clean the house, take the kids to soccer, pick up the cleaning, do the shopping, and still have dinner on the table when I come home. They must be brilliant to get all that done.

I think kids are great. They can cut the lawn in summer, shovel the walks in winter, get me a beer, ……..I can’t think of anything else off hand. We used to use them to change the channel before we had remotes. There must be more reasons to have kids than just that.
 
Wade, you just proved out my theory: Women are smarter, but men are resourceful. Anything that can help fascilitate their "helplessness" right? :grin01:

What kid do you know?? The ones around here all sit on the porches "chillin" while adults and the elderly do things like mow lawns and shovel sidewalks.

I had one group of lazy punks shout at me the other day as I walked around the block in the blistering sun pushing my mower "Hey, for a million dollars I'll mow your lawn."

I ignored him but what I really thought is that even for $20 I wouldn't hire his slack self, because I'd be out $20 and still have to redo a shoddy job. Useless, the lot of them.
 
There are two responses I hate when people find out I don't want/can't have children:

1. You'll change your mind when you find the "one". My response: The "one" doesn't want children either.
2. You'll never get married now. My response: "So you're telling me men only want women for their ability to bear children?" At this point they sputter some more stupid comments...

Amazingly, I've found women to be more judgmental about it than men. Men are always like, "Good for you."
 
See, my response to *i don't want kids* wouldn't be some sort of sappy you'll-change-your-mind... but that you may want to make sure that the hormones don't attack you at a later point.

Female hormones are insane. They can make previously sane people want to do completely insane things, like have kids.

As someone who placed a child up for adoption when I did get accidentally pregnant, and the fact that I also am the product of an adoption... At some point, I was bringing one home.

So now I have my 3 and a half year old, and my one and a half year old.

I was going to get my tubes tied during my second c-section.

THE HORMONES ATTACKED, and I didn't do it.

Is it tough? Do I miss being able to leave my house? Yep!

Would I give them up for the world? No.

It all depends on your decisions, and, well, the effectiveness of the attack that mother nature may wage. Sometimes, the overwhelming urge to spawn takes over.

As a side note, to those that don't have kids because the pregnancies never went to term... I feel you.

I lost twins, a boy and a girl, at 20ish weeks, in between my two kids.

Very little is that hard.

And while I understand not wanting to keep up the heartache.... They really can be worth it.

I will now leave you unencumbered folks to your discussion of lives of pet ownership and eating at REAL RESTAURANTS!!
 
While I chose to have children. I could NEVER denounce anyone or couple who chose not to. I do understand that it is a life change that is not everyones cup of tea.
I could never say I'm sorry I had kids and they changed my life for the worse, but that's just me. I totally support anyone who chooses not to be parent's. It is a BIG undertaking and each of us who are parents will always have to wonder if we did the best we could.
Any parent who doesn't think that I believe is not being honest with themselves or anyone else.
Atleast you don't have to doubt yourself every day with the decisions you make with your kids. You only have to doubt the decisions you make for yourself.
There are days I truly wish I only had to make those decisions. But I will never feel regret for bringing my kids into this world.

Man this is a tough group. I can't get a chuckle out of anybody. Usually a comment like this would get me slapped by at least a dozen offended people from both benches.

I think I must be surrounded by a bunch of bra burning femmanazis. :grin01:

I cannot get a tubal ligation done. The doctors will simply NOT do it unless i've had 3 kids.

My guy friend wanted to get snipped after two accidents resulted in two kids and the doctors refused him ...well they just had number three another accident...they FINALLY gave him the go ahead for the snip.

Its really frustrating to tell a doctor you want a procedure done and they keep telling you that you will change your mind. Why do I have to have three kids to prove that i need this done??

You can always check the Essure site (http://www.essure.com/) to see if there is a Dr. close to you who does the procedure (similar to tubal ligation, less invasive). Those Dr. may be more open to performing the surgery. I'm lucky that my Dr was so understanding. I'm not sure if it's because she is a woman, a lesbian, or because she's seen so many unwanted pregnancies. I'll admit though, when I was 20 and asked this same Dr. she told me to wait a couple of years before asking again.

Also, here is a link to CF resources on the West Coast, it's a livejournal community, but I hope you'll be able to view it. It has Dr.'s who have performed or have been willing to perform tubal ligation on women who do not have children.

As an adopted person who put a baby up FOR adoption, nothing.

As someone who has been clubbed by hormones... it isn't always the choice your body wants.
