Interesting Ghost

Picked this guy up at the swap because he was just so interesting. For a little guy, he has a tremendous amount of yellow along his sides extending down the majority of his length and dorsally almost to the top. His eyes are the brightest sky blue I've seen on a corn. ...and there's nothing wrong with his appetite. ;) Hard to get the blue eyes to show, but the first pic is pretty close to his actual coloration.

WOW.........

.... That is pretty interesting. Very Nice looking snake. It will be interesting to see how it turns out as it matures.

Thanks for sharing Hurley,
Walter :)

nice snake!

I have been to the swap in streamwood, but it was in winter when I was visiting my sister in Bartlet, all my family lives in IL, but I am here in sunny southern California, glad to be out of that nasty weather (LOL). thats a nice snake probably consider it a pastel

I'll second that WOW

I love that yellow on it. I hope you post progressive growing stages of that one. And, yeah, those eyes are great colored. Neat!
Congratulations on a nifty find.

The thing I noticed second (after the yellow, lol) was the complete lack of outlining to the saddles.

The two inset pics are the same typical ghost snake as a hatchling of about the same age as the new ghost hatchling and the same typical ghost as an adult. The difference in melanin distribution is striking to me.

:p

He's beautiful! I love the colors and especially the yellow. Really stunning animal you have there. =)

His colors look like the pastel motlies I see posted around here and there. And his saddles even have that "motley-ish leaning" that I can see. How's his belly look?

He almost looks like those Ice Ghosts that Joe has been producing.

Can't wait to see how he develops. =)

Hey Hurley,

Your ghost looks alot like my 'frosted ghosts' from Herps and Burps. I think we may want to do some test pairing once they're old enough... :) The only thing mine lack is the high amount of yellow...

It looks like an Ultra Ghost to me. Jim at SWR had Ultra Ghost on his price list at one time. He is calling them Ruby Eyed Ghost now. I would say that Hurley's looks like one of Jim's adults. Jim has some real nice snakes.

Beautiful little ghost! Just a thought...due to the amount of yellow, you might have some caramel influence in there, which could be the result of the breeder trying for ambers but the parents were het anery. Would be interesting to find out in a future breeding.

Joe:

That was my thought, too. I was wondering if Jim had ultras because if I were to imagine what the Ultra gene would do to anery, that was what I came up with (minus the yellow). I'll have to cross him out to the various hypos to find out, but I'm betting on Ultra.

Susan:

The thing that is different to me here is that the ones we have het for caramel that are SO yellow are yellow all over and more yellow dorsally. This guy is the inverse. He looks like the yellow one sees along the chin has been amplified a bajillion times and has crept dorsally. There is a strip down his back with no yellow, but the yellow does extend up the entire side.

Only test breeding will tell the tale, but he just doesn't look like the het caramels I've seen that exhibit increased yellow.

Hurley...

That ghost looks amazingly similar to one of my ghosts...

Mine has a tiny bit of outlining on its saddles. It has blue eyes, too. It doesn't show up in this picture, though.
