Interesting video.......

Palin scares the crap out of me. Her inexperience makes her an unbelievably stupid choice for VP. Her winking is also creepy. And the Republican Party and I share VERY FEW common ideas and goals. :poke:

In my opinion, Obama will encourage American children to get off their butt and go to school and learn.
Out of curiousity, and with exactly zero political influence, how do you suppose Obama is going to do that? I encourage students every single day of my life to get off their butt and come to school to learn . . . you know what, it doesn't make a hill of beans to the kids that are going home to their families that get their free meals, free housing, free clothes, free iPods, free cell phones. Why do they need to get off their butts they're getting everything handed to them on a silver platter. In the meantime, my kids have chores, participate in sports, get straight A's and B's after working on 1-3 hours of homework any given night while I have to put in 10-12 hour days at more than one job, while my wife also has to work BTW . . . Ugh, seriously, just because Obama (or any politician for that matter) is going to encourage children to learn?! All I can say is "wow".

Every single "other" politician's experience scares the crap out of me. Their winking is the creepiest. "We'll save you." wink wink, nudge nudge

PS. I haven't even had the opportunity to watch the videos yet. :shrugs:

To behonest, does it really matter who gets voted in?! People seem to have forgotten there's a Senate (100 politicians) and House of Representatives (435 politicians) that are responsible for voting in policy . . . That makes 535 other people who don't get blamed for squat.

Ohhh... and Obama's inexperience makes him the best person for PRESIDENT??? How hypocritical is that?

He was... a "Community Organizer"???? Wow... lots of experience there.
Senator???? He spent the last 19 months NOT being a Senator, but running for President... LOTS of experience there...

You need to rethink that...

And Drizzt is right!! The Senate and House can point fingers UP all they want, but THEY are the real reason for all the junk that happens.

I really don't want to participate in a political argument... but... Well said Mr. Dizzt. (do the kid at your school call you that?) Politicians say what will get them votes. Bro Obama is the worst of them. I'm for education..Yea!! I'm for lower taxes...Yea!! I'm going to make the rich foot the bill for the poor....Yea!!

Do you really believe that? Do you really think he can? Can you spell BULL?

On the environment they're pretty much equal, as well as same sex marrige, and I'm sure some other things. On immigration I'm for both sides...

No...

In the environment part, McCain wants to drill offshore of CA while Obama wants to invest in renewable sources.

In the same sex marriage issue, McCain thinks it is only recognizable between a man and a woman, while Obama will recognize same sex marriage.

Just wanted to get that clear.

Said the man with the most awesomest clean "little Johnny" joke! ;)

Well said Mr. Dizzt. (do the kid at your school call you that?)
No, they just look at me sideways and wonder "What's up with that guy?" (Come to think of it, I may get that a lot around here too . . . )

Can you spell BULL?
Could you use it in a sentence please?

Then we might appear to be honoring the wishes of a sovereign nation? What do we hope to see happen if we stay?
Of course we can't just stay indefinitely...but what if we caved to a candidate's pandering and yanked all of our boys out tomorrow. What possible message might that send? What if we used a more strategic plan to bring them home? Nobody wants to keep our men and women over there, but imagine if one of the candidates got his way and decided to bring them home tomorrow? What might happen? Anyone?? Bueller??

Oh yea, I forgot that one.

I want to invest in renewable resources....Yea!!

We will all park our cars and wait patiently for a few years while you work that out.

As far as I know, she was a governor in ALASKA? You really want to compare her experience to any of other candidates?

But why do I care? I'm not going to vote anyway.

I agree, well said Drizzt.. Though I don't think it's really a partisan issue. All Americans want to see their kids do well in school. So if I disagree with anyone on that, it's only to say that this issue doesn't differentiate one politician from another..

But Wade, if Obama is the worst (and with the reasons that you sited) does that mean you don't think Obama wants to give the middle class a tax break, raise the taxes on the wealthy and you think he's 'against education'? Is the problem that his positions are too popular? Or you don't believe that those are his true positions?

I know you don't like to argue politics as we've discussed in the past, but when you do, I can only take it that you've changed your mind- or at least for the things you mention..

Out of curiousity, and with exactly zero political influence, how do you suppose Obama is going to do that?

Personally, I think that a lot of of kids look up to Obama. I guess I just see him as influencing many kids to do the right thing and such. I don't think there are many kids out there that say "I want to be just like McCain!"... maybe there are, but I have never seen any. When my teacher asked the class who they want to win 95% of the kids went for Obama.

Ugh, seriously, just because Obama (or any politician for that matter) is going to encourage children to learn?! All I can say is "wow".

I don't get this statement.

Maybe I'm just slow today... but how is that not a plus?

We have to start someday, don't we? Better now with Obama than 4 years later with McCain...
I just really hate the idea of offshore drilling. Besides the environmental impact, I believe is just more money going to the pockets of a bunch of VERY rich companies.

Fair question. No, it's not that I don't believe Obama means well. It's easy to say, I'm in favor of education. It is quite difficult to actually do something about it. That is the part he doesn't mention. It is very popular to say that you will lower taxes for the largest group of voters. It is something else all together to find the money to fund your new education program and invest in renewable energy.

I am apposed to any politician who makes those big nice sounding statements without the experience or understanding of what is going to actually be involved in making it happen.

I am in favor or God, country, and the American Way!!!!

Bueller says :grin01::

I think I stated what message I believe that would send. I've talked to Iraqis over the year I was there. With one kind of exception (typified by Kurds who believed erroneously that we were going to give them their own nation in the north, and who make up the smallest percentage of Iraqis) they were all thankful for getting rid of Saddam AND anxious for us to leave. And I only ever talked to the ones who worked FOR us, which makes that even more poignant since their JOBS depended on our staying. (I admit, I'm ASSUMING the ones who lobbed mortars at me also wanted us to leave, I never spoke to them..) So even aside from wanting to get our boys out of there (which also informs my opinion) I have lots of reasons to want a hasty withdrawal.

As for the concern of admitting defeat.. Defeat against whom? We went to stop weapons of mass destruction and there aren't any. We went to overthrough Saddam and create a democracy; 'mission accomplished'. We've trained their Army, we've got them in a surplus.. Heck we've even relinquished most of the country back to their control already, and they WANT us to relinquish the rest. We can still support them from home if they need it and it's in our interest. What else are we fighting there? Terrorists? Iraqis can fight them very well, doing a better job of it than the Pakistanis are doing. We can support them in that regard as well.

Me too. (Well not God but I don't believe he exists) I just disagree with you on what that means. I jumped up to join the Army right after 911. Patriots are on BOTH sides of these debates..
I agree that Obama is saying what Americans want him to say (majority of us anyway or so the polls lead me to believe) but I think that's what a President is SUPPOSED to do anyway. But just because he's saying it does not mean he doesn't mean it. The two are not mutually exclusive..

I didn't mean to bring God into this but you can't say "I am in favor of country, and the American Way!!!!" It just doesn't sound right.

To you! Most of our founding fathers would disagree. The most influential ones would disagree loudest.. Though every one of them would likely defend your absolute right to use that phrase just exactly as you do..

By that I don't mean to say that they were Atheists by the way.. Just that I believe they were very clear about religion and state.

True... and I apologize if I "put words in your mouth". I do mean to be civil! :grin01:

YES! She was indeed Governor of Alaska. Sure, it has a very small population (my wife is from Alaska and I keep saying that she graduated from a class of 3!!! LOL.).

But when you compare that to OBAMA's experience, there really is no comparison. He never ran a successful company... he abstained or did not vote on tons of bills as a Senator, never LED people of any population (he led even less than Alaska's 3 citizens!!! LOL). So, when it comes to "experience" Palin beats Obama hands down. She owned a fishing business. She was a mayor (okay... 3 people... but still MAYOR - voted in and everything). She was a Governor with all the responsibilities entailed.

Sure, she hasn't had a lot of "Washington" experience, but isn't that one of the things Obama "touted"? That he was an "outsider"? He can't have it both ways, can he... be an "outsider" and then claim that someone else is also... "outside"?

Anyway, I answered your points in either italics or underlined... wish I could do it another way, but that's the way it came out. I was not yelling and would never presume to do so as I think the only way to overcome this "debacle" is to be civil... even in disagreement. :)
