Introducing Valkyrie (DUW)

After a year of research and patience (yea right lol), I finally have my first corn snake! She is an Abbott Okeetee and came from Sean and hatched on July 20, 2010. I want to thank everyone on the forum that has given me so much advice and answered so many questions. I especially want to thank John and Lars for answering my hundreds of newbie questions. The people on this forum are some of the nicest people I have ever met. Anyways...on to the pictures!!

Introducing Valkyrie (Norse Mythology)

After getting home with her, I snapped a few photos before putting her in her viv.

Her eyes are a little out of focus, but I love her head pattern. Ice cream anyone?

Wow, she's beautiful little girl!!!

Thanks! She's already quite friendly as well. I was surprised lol. Tried to put her in her viv and she went up my sleeve and refused to leave my sweatshirt. But I know she has to acclimate so I put her back anyway :( lol

Thanks everyone! I'm so happy to have her!

Gelshark- thanks, I'm obsessed with mythology. She was either going to be Persephone or Valkyrie :)

Glad she got up there ok, though I knew Lars would get you set.
It was really nice to see Lars again and to show him some of the top secret stuff here.
John

Because Valkyrie has been so active and wanting to be handled, I was advised to go ahead and feed her for the first time (with me). She was on 2 pinks before, but since she's only been with me for a few days, I only offered her one pink. After putting her in the her feeding bin, she was more interested in trying to get me to hold her rather than eat. So I put the lid on and turned off my desk lamp, and this ensued!

The pink was gone in less than a minute :eats02:, and I am one happy snake mommy! :dancer:

I put her back and cleaned the bin. She was slowly patrolling the outside of her viv and is now curled up in the tree taking a nap.

She's adorable! My first mail-order snake came from Sean. I wonder how many you'll have a year from now!!

Hey Dana, Great news! I was in your shoes last month. It's a huge relief when they eagerly eat for the first time with their new parents. :eats02:

First shed with me

Yesterday Valkyrie shed for the first time with me, so I thought some photos were in order!

It came off in a few pieces

While I was taking out the shed skin, she was being a spy apparently.
