All Pied Everything
My Granite Iorek Byrnison shed today and I snapped some photos of him before giving him his mouse. I got some pretty pictures, so I decided to share them with everybody!

I got this guy from Katie (ArpegioAngel) as an adult, so I don't have any baby pictures to compare with or do a progression thread.

In his tub

Next, outdoors, against the mossy background.

This guy has a lot of melanin, but I love that his neck/ sides are very diffused and he even has a few spots that look pretty white to me.

Also, I absolutely adore his white tipped nose!

Next I had some fun taking shots of him playing around in one of the trees in the court yard. Some of them aren't the best shots, but I had fun taking them!

I think this one shows his sides pretty well

Even though this one is a little over exposed.. I blame the patchy sunshine filtering through the leaves, I think it shows his beauty.

I had to be sneaky and get shots through the branches.. otherwise Iorek caught on pretty fast and changed his direction!

I did manage to get some nice head shots though

This one's just too cute not to share

That's it for this photo shoot. Hope you enjoyed the shots of Iorek! Thanks Katie, I couldn't be happier with this dude!

Very nice! It's cool to see how they look as adults, since my granite (Eddie) is only about a year old... I just updated his progression thread a minute ago, and you can see he's MUCH lighter than this guy. They're both pretty darned handsome, in my opinion. ;)

P.S. Those outdoor shots are really good... now that the weather's clearing up, I'll have to do some outdoor photos of my collection. They always look so much better in natural light, huh?

Beautiful snake and great photos! You have a really great photo tree and I expect to see many more snakes in it.

I was just looking at your guy and I actually think he looks like a Ghost Blood. It's funny that you saw pictures of my guy and commented, because I was thinking about the comparison between them!

Perhaps you just have a really light Granite, but to me it looks like Hypo is in Eddie's mix. One way to tell is to look at his sheds. Are they very dark or lighter? Hypos don't have as much melanin on their sheds and they look much clearer than a non-Hypo snakes.

I suppose as they say though, it's best to go with what the snake was sold as until breeding trials show otherwise.

Also, thanks for the compliments! It really is true that natural lighting can TOTALLY make all the difference.

Beautiful snake! Did you get that name from the golden compass?

Sure did, Iorek is named for the King of the Panserbjørn. ;)

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

Awww Susan, what a great compliment, especially coming from the master of "magical tree snake photos".

My mantra while shooting snakes in trees is actually what would Susan do?

I just love the apartments I'm in now, because they really have some great landscaping around here! We have our own little courtyard paradises surrounding the complex.

Your wish shall be granted!

Nice pics! How's he doing? Settled down? MAN he bit me when I was picking him up at Katie's!! Just a hungry bite.

He's finally getting comfortable enough to come out and explore his viv a little. I was actually about to feed him after witnessing him cruzing around his viv when I saw that he'd shed. I made him wait a little longer than planned in order to do this photo shoot. When I finally went to get him out of his tub for the second time to put him in his feeding bin he gave me a bit of a fright! He didn't strike, but for a second there I thought he was going to. That's the most of a "fright" I've ever gotten from an adult corn. Thankfully everything after that went just fine and after his mouse he calmed down.

For the most part though he's very good. Whenever I unearth him from his favorite hide for a handling session he is more than willing to be a calm participant.
