Iris VE-175 tubs

If anyone's interested in larger plastic tubs WalMart has Iris Christmas tree storage boxes in stock for the season. 20 7/8"W x 52 7/8"L x 14 1/16"H. $20 each. One of my adult corns has been housed in this with the lid for a couple years and hasn't escaped yet. I'm thinking these will be a good size for my black pine snakes as well.

I went to the Canadian walmarts and they haven't heard of these tubs?!?!

Any idea how a canuck like myself can get them?

I've been checking a variety of stores all year. I think they are only carried around the holidays because of their size. Most of the associates weren't familiar with the Iris brand even when they carried it. Best bet is to check the seasonal sections of major retailers and ask for artificial Christmas tree storage boxes. Sterilite also makes a (smaller?) tub - Link

I was actually thinking about putting my adult corn in one of these while my husband is building a viv for her. I am not sure how you can heat it though. Can you still use a UTH?

Uth----not On Plastic

UTH's cannot and should not be used on anything except for glass tanks. The safety warnings inside says so. Im sure we all know somone who has them on wooden, plastic and metal enclosures but they run the risk of burning their house down.

Not really

I, and many PROFESSIONAL herpers, have been using flexwatt to heat plastic, wood, and many other materials safely for many years. As long as some kind of thermostat/rheostat is used, it is perfectly safe. My house has never burned down.
Just MHO.

cobra heat pads work just fine on sterilite containers. cobra heat pads heat to 100 degrees, which isn't hot enough to melt plastic. just as long as you're not keeping the sterilite on a metal surface. i've been doing this for a few years now and it works just fine.
