I've got pinkies!

I have to keep the whites ones, I would just get too attached to fancy mice. I already got attached to one of the baby mice, which is now an adult and I'm keeping. I can't spend too much time with my feeders!

Well, I just bought 8 adult mice to feed to my snakes (the girl just wanted to breed some for 1 snake but dind't expect them mice to breed so good), when I found 1 to be pregnant, she threw 5, 2 are eaten now and the others are 15 days old. Last week I had 3 feeding mice left, then found out 2 of them are pregnant too. I already fed the third one to a snake so I din't know if that one was the father or one of the 3 teenage mice that wre in the same cage. I checked them, and they are all male! So I separated them from the females and now the 2 pregnant, the mommy with litter and a female mouse I want to keep are together now.

Crap, :awcrap: I just went to take a pic of the almost 'exploding' mouse to add to this post, Iand found out the less bulgy female gave birth to 7, but 3 are dead! Well, nature has it's own ways...and to be honest, 3 fully healthy, big litters would have been too much to house for me. Pet shop would have been the next destination I guess.

For the record; my mice are just on room temp (about 20-21 degrees) and I've paid no attention to light cycles. Sorry for them non-succesfull breeders :shrugs:

Me too!

Looks like my male finally decided he knew what to do with the girls. After 3 months of waiting I now have 12 pinkies and 2 other pregnant females! Yeah!!!

I felt so good about it I went and got another 1.2 mice for another colony. Hopefully it won't be too much of a good thing.

Sorry to drag this thread on and on, but darn it, I'm just so excited about my breeding. I am now 4 for 4. My second rat female is currently giving birth as I type. Maybe I'll have to get another corn to keep up with my breeders :grin01:

17 babies later....:eek1: They just kept coming out. Even she looked surprised. I could just hear her saying, "Ahhh..., time to relax, What?! Another one" It was pretty amazing to watch. I thought she'd get full eating all those afterbirths. Some might think its weird of me to have watched. But I am very close to my rats. We've really bonded in the 5 months I've had them. I knew she was due any day, but didn't know it would be today. I was preparing to feed one of my corns, getting the mouse out and defrosting it, when I heard her squeal. I'd never heard anything like it. That was when she started having them and didn't stop for a few hours. So now there is squeaking in the cage again.
