Laying Time?

NI GUY

Sci from N.I.
I know that after the pre-lay shed we should expect
eggs 1-2 weeks after but what is the shortest and
longest time your females have laid in?

I've only bred one female corn so far, twice, and both times she laid on day 10 post shed. I have a second one gravid this year so we'll see how long she takes. I know occasionally they have been known to lay while in the blue of pre lay shed or more than two weeks afterwards, but as Matthew says, the average is 7-10 days after the shed.

I've had females lay before their pre-lay shed and up to around 16 days after their shed. I use the shed as a guide, but much prefer to count the 5 weeks past the initial breeding date. I find it to be more accurate with most females laying within 6 days of that date.

I am waiting on a female who is on day 10. The suspense is killing me! LOL The first group of eggs is always like that for me... after that I chill out.
