Leo Gecko URGeNT advise needed.vet maybe?

I do understand, and It may seem I rushed into getting a leo, but if you search back in my threads you may see one or two and then understand that a leo is something I have been interested in getting for atleast a year now.
So why use a shop....Why not ask Faith if she has any....Or advertise on the other forum...You'll get replies and a good choice.....

I'm not sure, every tank except the corn snake tanks have the same lamp..so I'm sure :/

Take a thermometer with you next time, ask if you can put it in the viv under the heat lamp and record the temperature. If he objects to you doing this, say you will take your custom elsewhere to a place where they don't feel the need to hide their hunsbandry from potential buyers.

Thanks I will.

My mums boyfriend just had a right go at me, telling me I should listen to him and telling me I should listen to the petstore and not idiots online..
It's hard enough right now as it is, I feel it's all my fault when all I'm doing is trying my best.. And he throws it in my face..

I'm not sure why she would not eat at my house, maybe she just needed more time.

For an adult leopard gecko in good weight, I wouldn't have worried if it hadn't eaten in two or three weeks if it's settling in - and I have adult males who go six weeks in springtime without eating. For a baby or youngster, though, that's too long.

A 2.5ft tub, 3 normal hides, 1 wet hide, a waterbowl, foodbowl, undertank heater for belly-heat.
Thermostat on the heat mat?

Thanks I will.

As the guy in the petshop wants to make money, and mums B/F isn't a herper (is he?) you have to listen to the idiots on line.....LOL

It's hard enough right now as it is, I feel it's all my fault when all I'm doing is trying my best..

To quote Yoda.......There is to do and not to do, but no try

And he throws it in my face..

Least said there I think...LOL

Ahh you speak in a tongue I don't understand -.-
Yea thermostat on the heat-mat.

Anyways he just phoned and said that she's ate some wax worms, and he'll only keep her aslong as I want him too, and he said he'll make sure she's going to the toilet alright..
I said earlier in the thread that he's a nice man, and he is.
Pet shops can't be expected to keep there reptiles in the conditions that we do, and 9 times out of 10, they don't.

I'll go collect her in a few days, maybe wednesday/thursday/friday..

Oh yes they can....And the ones I use do........Your selling good shops short, to bolster your argument...
And Hitler was a nice man.....:fullauto:.Doesn't make him right though.....

Before you pick her up have him feed her for you so you can see with your own eyes. I trust no one on the phone when they said the animal is fine yet you have problems. I personally don't buy that.

Most Con artists are the nicest people you will have meet. They will smile to your face and try to be a friendly as they can as they take money from you.
And actually my shop i go to sells her Geckos in tubs that are lined with paper towels and are kept in excellent conditions.

P.S let's just let this thread die now.
Everyone has been helpful, but I just think I can handle things by myself now.
Again, you didnt get what you wanted to hear and now you want this thread to die.
George, I own many leos and breed them. I am just being honest here and trying to help. I have never said you were a bad leo keep and never bashed your husbandry. I just told you how this animal should behave and I am trying to save you some money. What really do have to gain from this??? Abosutly nothing. This animal can die and it doesn't bother me one bit, its not mine.
What does the Petshop owner have invested? A sale and loss of money. He has everything to gain.
What do you have to gain? The loss off your money, a pet possibly dieing on you or a vet bill that isnt worth it for a pet you just got a week ago.
Remember, if you have a sick reptile that you have had for less than 2 weeks, it came to you already sick. This isn't your fault but still you should be a wise shopper and take it back.
I mean would you buy a brand new computer with out a hard drive and memory when you were told you received a fully functional computer?

If he's only going to give you store credit George, I would get supplies..
The way I see it (now that I've heard from people who actually keep Leos- I don't) either he's not eating, which is very bad.. Or the guy is telling the truth and he is eating there- well than why so skinny? That could indicate an even worse problem, like parasites.. Why not stock up on supplies and later contact a breeder? I don't know of ANY pet store that could get my business for anything but supplies. What you're describing sounds like more of the same..

Good luck whatever you decide!

Just a quick thought. Is the leo female and does the pet shop co habit leos? If so does he split the males and females? If not the reason for her being underweight could be breeding too young. egg production can be very taxing for females especially young leos as they are prolific breeders. My female has bred for the first time this year and laid 8 eggs between may and july.
Leo's are nocturnal mine prefer to eat about 10 or 11 pm. Plus lumps on Leos can be broken bones, abcesses or tumours. It is recommended that you avoid buying Leo's with lumps or bumps. I hope the Leo can recover from this setback.

Thanks everyone.
I know everyone is trying to help, and like I said, I thank you for taking the time to do so.
I will go and speak to my parents.

Its really hit me hard this, I get really emotional when theres something not quite right with my pets..I really do put every spare second of my time and every penny into them.

I don't want to sound mean here George so please don't take it that way ......Or you Deano.... But time and money is the easy bit.......It's the thought that goes in, thats the hard bit......
