Converting a closet in the reptile room into a ASF rack system all by myself. :) Zero help from hubby on this one! Recycling wood from another project. When all is said and done, they'll be 10 bins (with 1.2 or 1.3 groups per bin). If the little munchkins manage to chew out of the kitty litter pans, plans are in the making to make fiberglass ones.

Boo-Boo's so far:
  • Chunk of right middle finger gone from screening edge
  • Left thumb smashed when drill slipped

That's excellent!! I could never grow my own- look at their adorable little faces!!

Wow! Very nice idea!

How are you planning for supplying water? the gap seems kind of small for water bottle??

I don't think they can chew through flat plastic surface.

ASF's can chew through anything plastic (thus the need for something chew proof). They'll scratch and scratch a spot until there's enough purchase to start gnawing on it (rats will do this do).

An automatic watering system will be installed on each side when all is said and done. I can fit water bottles in if I wanted, but auto would be a lot easier.

i was just planning something just like that yesterday morning, looks great so i do think im gonna go for, good job

They are sooo adorable!! Great job on the rack too :dancer: Please post more photos of the ASF's !!

All done!

Done with one side! :dancer:

And more ASF pics for Piper. :)

If you keep posting pictures of the little buggers I might have to get some for pets not food!

Nice rack construction, just try not to mangle yourself anymore in the process!

Thought I'd post an update to this...

Since reptile room has become baby room and back room has become reptile room, I had to make my closet contraption into a stand alone unit. Here's what it looks like!

It looks brilliant! The ladies of the site put the men to shame with all their wonderful constructions, you should be proud of yourself. :)

Those ASFs are adorable, I love the albino!

Women putting men to shame?

I say this is equality at it's finest! Great job on the rack! Though I don't know I'd have done near as good a job!

And those African rats are so unbelievably adorable!
