Should I lower the temps in the house

I meant that those are the temps in the house, His enclosure is 94 on the warm side and 73 on the cool side.

You realize you answered your own question right? If it's 73 on the cool side you don't want it going much below 73. Therefore if your house is between 70 and 75 why would you want to lower the temperatures and endanger your snake?

I must agree with what everyone else has said, you ALWAYS make sure you know everything about a snake before you buy it!
The person i brought my boa off kept it in an unsecure tank, god knows how he didnt escape but my guess was he hadnt tried, this could be very serious! by loosing it you have first proved you are unable to look after a big snake (if any) and secondly, with people like you loosing them so easily, others will try to get them ban'd because some people have let them out in the wild, it is thanks to people like you that cause these bans by irresponsible actions such as this! regardless of how old you are or what you are like (as i will not put somebody down on character because of there post), i think that you should sit back and think of the reptiles for a change, please do them a favour and think!:headbang:

I am actually hoping that RA has never had a snake and all his stories are made up. If all his stories are true then he is obviously not capable of keeping any herps. I believe I suggested earlier that a pet rock would be more your speed of pet to keep.

A quick search on the forum quickly points all the tricks for finding a lost snake and where to look. Guess that search button is scary to click, eh?

Should I lower the temps in the house and set out some heat pads?
OK...one thing I think everyone overlooked (and this is HARD for me to point out because of RA's track record) is that he was thinking about lowering the house temps and putting out more heating pads. I believe he was thinking that the snake would seek out the warmth.

I am definitely not one to jump to his rescue because he definitely needs a wake up call concerning his animals, but he was at least trying to think of some way to try to coax the snake out of hiding.

RA...you REALLY have to be more responsible. It feels like everyone is attacking you because they are concerned about your animals. I think I speak for most of us here...we are passionate about our reptiles (and other pets). We HATE hearing of animals being harmed due to owner neglect/carelessness.

PLEASE either get it together...or give up on the snake hobby!

I stopped coming on this forum back when all the RA stuff happened the first time.... I just thought I'd drop in tonight and see what was up, and I see that very little has changed...lol

Huh? :shrugs:

Back when all the stuff was going on with him losing and killing his snakes a few months ago, I was in the middle of finals, graduation, moving to my apartment, and a whole bunch of other stuff. I didn't get time to come on this site very often. Since then, I've made a few posts but nothing on a regular basis. Last night I finally had some free time and decided to see what was going on around here and I saw that RA was still up to his same habits of losing stuff and being irresponsible. I thought maybe he had changed or had a reality check over the past two or three months, but I guess not...

Well I can admit that I've had to go on a snake search around the apartment on 3 occasions EVER. 2 were cases of 6 month old size snakes up my sleeve and they've crept out without me noticing...both were found within minutes and the other was an adult snow who I found crammed in behind the bookcase after a frantic 15 minute search and I can admit that the reason he got out of his viv was that I didn't slide it all the way shut when I put him back in...my own fault.

What I have never had happen to any of my snakes though is an escape due to inadequate or malfunctioning lids/doors or the such.

I have to echo the others here and say that if you want to be an animals guardian, you have to know how to keep it before you bring it home and you have to have a suitable home for it before you buy it.

The nutso groups like PETA and the like just love guys like you RA, you give them all the fuel they need to drive their campaigns to stop the rest of us keeping exotics.

just for tripnbills...

I'm only a newb here, but I was here before when R_A was telling people how he'd killed snakes and the likes through 'accidents'. I'd like to add that since then I've been a regular, (not posting but viewing) almost every single day, and to the best of my recollection he hasn't posted anything since 'those posts you remember'.
AND TO REPTILE_ADDICT DON'T EVER (AT LEAST FOR 10 YEARS (if not 20)) PURCHASE, ACCEPT OR CAPTURE ANYTHING THAT IS RELIABLE ON YOU. You sound to me like you couldn't look after a pet rock, never mind any LIVING CREATURE.
In Laymens terms just for you, NO ANIMALS /snakes/lizards/reptiles/ANYTHING
If you are just after attention, go and devote your time to something more rewarding. IE masturbation
(don't know if I'll get told off for that, but hey it works for most 15 year olds)

cos you sounded lie he'd put...

you off returning to this great site of course!! Yeah your probably a regular and I understand that now but hey, theres no need for anyone to stop visiting this 1 in a million site because someone tries to ruin it for real herp lovers. :)

OK now I'm gonna say it...

Wut?

Does every post associated with this thread just suck the oxygen outta the room or what??!?? :crazy02:

LET IT FREAKING DIE! I'm going to go kill something now........

lol...no, I didn't stop coming here just because of him. I stopped coming here because I was 1) taking finals, 2) Graduating from college, 3) Changing jobs, 4) moving, and 5) getting some photos ready to hang in 2 galleries...all at the same time, and I just didn't have the time to be online much.

One part of me wants to doubt that any of RA's stories are true, but the other (bigger) part of me wonders how, if this is true, his parents can keep allowing him to do this. Irresponsible kids are one thing. Irresponsible adults are a whole different ballgame. If I killed/lost/whatever as many animals as he has (and if he's this bad with snakes, I'd like to hear about how his other animals are doing as well), my parents wouldn't have so much as let me go to the pet store. In my mind, if he's actually this irresponsible, just because he's a kid doesn't get him off the hook, but I think there are other people that should be checking up on what he's capable of doing too.

The family I work for has a history of killing their pets. Countless fish, turtles, puppies.... ( )
The last time the mother mentioned that they were going to the pet store to get the kid a new fish I asked her if she thought that was such a good idea, she just got a confused look on her face.
At least they are terrified of snakes. That way when i start breeding I don't have to tell them NO! if they want one.

I believe that it isnt because hes a kid, i had my reps since i was 15 and have never had one escape, become unhealthy or had an unnatural death (no deaths at the moment, plan to make sure it stays like that for the next 15 odd years!), instead i believe it is cos off his ignorance to what the snakes need and more what he wants from them (i.e the idea of bigging himself up at school for owning them)! please do not buy anymore! your doing a bad enough job with the ones you own (and have owned/killed) in the past!

That's funny you mention that...I always pictured RA as one of those countless 'trying to be a social misfit' 16 year olds that you see at all the reptile shows! You know the kind...the demi-goth/metalhead/too many piercings to get through a metal detector type of kiddies!

...And before anyone jumps down my throuat for judging the book by its cover, I have a bunch of friends who could kind of fit the above description and before I let my natural hair colour show through/took out my piercings/started dressing a little more mainstream...I could have been mistaken for one of them too!!!
