I just got my fire motley stripe yesterday. Was super excited and the guy trusted me. I took her home and put her in a plastic bin. Set two rocks on it and taped the edges. Came home to get ready for work and found her gone. Me and my bf searched my room for the 30mins I had. I put flour all over and a heatpad with her fav tube and hide. Warmed a mouse up and left it. And put a blanket under the door.

Can you guys help give me trap ideas? Link threads?

Me and my bf are tearing my room apart tomorrow.

That is pretty much what I do when I have one get out, and they normally show up sooner or later for me. I hope you find her!
 
Look under everything on the floor. Look at night. Look up. Put out masking tape traps- coils of masking tape along the walls. If you catch her in a tape trap, remove the tape with cooking oil. Most importantly, though, look under everything. Especially along walls. Also, follow the walls out of the room in both directions and look under stuff.

When my boa got out I found him sitting in top of a bookshelf and when my ratsnake got out she came back to her heat source behind her cage. Let us know how you do looking for her!
 
I've found two snakes using the tape method!! Just plain scotch tape, rip off 12-24inch pieces and line them (sticky side up) along the walls and furniture and all over the floor. If she slithers over one piece, it will stick to her and as she tries to get it off, will get more stuck until she can't move. It sounds bad, but if you have a cat like I do, there can be much worse fates! But be careful when removing the tape. Luekwarm water soak or cooking oil helps remove the tape without hurting her.

Best of luck searching for her! Don't give up, just keep looking!!!
 
I will third the sugestion for tape coil traps. Have yet to try the cooking oil removal method but intentionall stuck some really good tape (do not use really sticky tape to trap your snake) to my arm and tried the oil to get it off, worked wonders.
 
What tape is suggested? I'll buy some and put it all over. I think she left my room. I've searched everything.
 
I use the cheapest masking tape I can find. The 3M stuff seems a bit too sticky for my liking. I've heard Knever tried) scotch tape as well. Just never ever use duct tape, removing it from your snake may well kill it or at the least severely hurt it.

Although I've never had an escape in my house I have used and suggested this method to several folks for escaped snakes as well as capturing unwanted visitors in garages and babsements with a ton of success.

Snakes seem to be good at popping up when you least expect it. I found my baby when I had lost hope and assumed she'd never be coming back. But one day I opened my drawer and there she was! napping in my clothes. you may look in every nook ten times and still miss them. Don't give up! I'm sure it'll turn up! Good luck on your hunt!
 
I won't give up hope. I just coil taped everywhere in the house yesterday. :) I hope I come home to a surprise. I can't lose hope...I just bought an amelanistic bloodred male for her.

As far as the bin.. It was temporary home untill I got my 45-55long tank split in half and to buy a screen lid. It doesn't matter what it is or how..she just isn't there and I don't plan to use it again. I had shut the lid and lifted with my own force. Found gaps so I taped all around the edges and placed a rock at each end. Made sure the air holes weren't to big.
When I came home and began removing the tape..I noticed a slight bit of it was lifted. She was very inquisitive and adventures.

I just hope I find her. She is a very nice snake.

Btw I remember reading once about a one way trap. Like a bottle? I wanted to make it so I could leave a mouse inside. Anyone know?
 
IMO i think they generally choose the shortest route against a wall . they dont like to be out in the open. so where ever you are keeping him/her find the closest wall and follow it looking underneath everything. sounds crazy but i found my last two this way
 
I had my landlord call me in a panic..

She had "found" a snake in her apt, 2 floors up..

It was one of mine that had escaped, I had long given up on, was lost for 3 months in the winter..

I lost my first King for 3 months and had also given up hope. Then out of no where I see her cruising around on top of a pile of blankets in the same place she had disappeared from. Now my niece won't go near her because she's a "zombie snake," lol! :laugh:
 
Had an adult bloodred disappear in my friends SUV... was in there for about six weeks! No food... cannot imagine there was any moisture... that girl was amazing
