Lurkers of the board UNITE!!

Dreqqus

The Ring and The Arrow
Just wondering how many other dedicated lurkers there are on the board. I come here everyday but very rarely post. Might as well update the animals of me while I'm at it.
Current collection:
1.0 Yellow/olive ATB(Mako named for the shark)
0.1 Garden phase ATB(Mitzi named because it starts with an M and shes Mako's mate)
0.1 Het albino Sonoran Gopher snake(unnamed)
0.0.3 Red banded walking frogs(also unnamed)
1.0 Savannah Monitor(Pustulio)
I sold my cornsnake back to the store that i purchased him from some time ago, as he thought it was het for something and bought it back for an obscene amount of money compared to the $40 i paid for it.

So lets hear it lurkers, what do ya got?

:noevil: What can I say I'm slow to get here and only post if I think its a valid contribution(IE won't be the thirtieth person to praise someones snake when they post it)

But we like hearing that 30th compliment! It means our snakes are loved by everyone - not just us! ;)

We don't bite... often... lol

So far I haven't seen anyone's name I don't recognize. That usually only happens when someone digs up a super old thread!

(Back to lurking) (Oh, nice, for a laugh go to the members list and sort by number of posts!!)

I am a semi-dedicated lurker :) I read this forum every day but don't always have anything to contribute!

I am kinda shy too *hides under computer desk heehee

Jenn :grin01:

Yeah really, we love being told by EVERYONE how beautiful our snakes are :sidestep:

I must admit, I am quite the lurker.

I absolutely LOVE this site, I am obsessed with clicking "new posts", but I rarely post myself. I make threads when I have new pictures of my snakes, but that's about it. I've been trying to make more posts lately, but I feel silly having my only posts be "beautiful snake".

Nice to meet some fellow lurkers. See you again in 3 years.

Heh, just made my first post in ten months a few days ago... I guess that counts as lurking even though I'm active now, lol.

Im a lurker :D
Im here everyday
have been lurking for years! :shrugs:

That is awesome Ryan and I am so happy that you have found the courage to step up and face this problem. It is nice for you to be the first one to stand up and share this at the first official meeting of L.A. (Lurkers Anonymous) Just remember Ryan, the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. :grin01: :sidestep:

I'm not offended or anything, but I feel the need to respond to this and maybe bring up a few other points. Do you feel that the thirtieth person to praise someone's snake is making an invalid or worthless contribution? I know that there are many members here who don't regularly reply to photo threads. There are others who will only reply to these threads if there is an opportunity to correct or criticize. I have no problem with either of these groups, really. Then there are those who frequently reply to photo threads for a number of valid reasons. I belong to this group. :)

I like to support and encourage the enthusiasm of the other members of this community. I particularly like to support and encourage the enthusiasm of members who regularly support and encourage me. I don't think any of the active veteran members here will deny the fact that certain "photo cliques" exist. If I post a photo thread, I can think of a number of members who will be likely to reply. These same members are probably not surprised to see me replying in their photo threads. It's not some "quid pro quo" or "duty" thing; it's just community members supporting each other. For me, it's never disingenuous; I've never said I liked a snake when I didn't. This is easy for me, because I like most snakes. :)

It's nice to know that people are appreciating your photography. Taking the pics isn't the work, it's DLing them, cropping them, resizing them, picking the best four or so out of 50-100, uploading them...

I like seeing the same old snakes over and over again, too. Like seeing new school pics every year! Plus any new acquisitions- it's fun when everyone shares your excitement!

I used to post a lot~ well....maybe not a LOT~ but more often than I do now. Now I show up~ look at the new posts......and just rarely ever find I have anything to say. Sometimes I feel bad about being antisocial~ I'm afraid so many of my old freinds here will decide I'm not around anymore~ so I'll go through looking for something to say (that would be this post!)

Roy:
No I don't believe the thirtieth, thirtieth, or millionth person sharing there opinion is invalid. I just prefer to browse the photos, and contribute if I have an anecdote, or some peculiar fact about the said animal. :shrugs:

In a nonrelated anecdote, where did pituophis get their reputation? My gopher snake never hisses, much less bites. My friend has a white-side bull that is the same way. Do we just have exceptions to the rule?

Do I lose points for hijacking my own thread?
