Me again...Got a question

Kilala

lemme go! I'm sleeping!
Hey, everybody, it's me again. I hope im not violating any rules by making so many threads... If i am please let me know and I'll start reusing my old ones.
Anyway, I'd like to know Czar's gender. I heard that there are several ways to determine the gender of snakes The first one I heard about is popping, but i don't want to hurt my hatchling by accident. Next there's probing, but i hear it's dangerous for the snake if you aren't an expert. Plus i think that's bound to be really stressful (put yourself in the snake's position, lol :eek1: ). I also heard that you can tell by the tail or something, but i haven't seen enough snakes of known genders to do this. If I were to post a pic, could someone do this for me? just tell me how to put up the pic and what kind of pic you need.

I can only recommend let an experienced person do it. If you are though (which I'm not for) just be very very careful. I think it's just easier letting a "pro" do it.

No don't worry you're not breaking any rules either.

Popping

I have been going to alot of websites and corn-utopia.com (Kathy Love) actually has a wmv video of how to sex your snake. I tried it and it wasn't to hard. She is very informative!

Yes that did show a very informative video. That is also one of the safest methods out of the two of them. (well two that I know of)

I was under the impression that you cant pop an adult snake as their muscles have developed to where you cant do it. Popping is for very young snakes. If I am wrong please correct me. Thanks Jimmy

Well, you'd need a pic of Czar's tail and cloaca, and a photobucket account, do you have one?

I don't have a photobucket account..but i found the link very useful. I'll wait until Czar sheds and do the "count the scales" thing.

Correct. You can only pop hatchlings.

I would really suggest trying to find a local breeder or even a herp vet that can show you how to pop and probe. (Basing sex off the vent is not that accurate and can be very very ambiguous). They're both extremely easy to do; but you really need someone to show you. This will come in handy if you ever decide to breed them. Try seeing if there is anyone here from cs.com that is local to you or you could even hop over to fauna and check there; they don't necessarily have to be corn people to show you how to pop n' probe.
