Meet the Chinchillas

toxiclight

Artz and Snakez
We have discussed getting chinchillas for the past few years, but never bit the bullet. Until yesterday, when we saw a pair up for adoption at the local shelter. They came with a huge cage (we were worried about having enough room for it...it's a massive thing and capable of being split into two if they ever get aggressive toward each other)

It's a father/son pair who have been re-dubbed Thor and Loki. It's nearly impossible to tell them apart unless they're side-by-side...Thor's a little darker and larger than Loki.

Thor after we first brought him home...we put them in a tote temporarily while getting their cage assembled.

Completely awesome little animals, and I'm very pleased we adopted them :)

Very adorable! I'll never forget the first one I met. I was about 12, and volunteering at the animal shelter. it was a permanent pet there. Sammy!

Had a breeding pair my self in college - lost them to a summer power failure that shut down the AC and threw them into heatstroke. Cutest little dudes ever, though - I've had about every rodent-type pet there is, and chins are tops on the list.

I had a rescue chinchilla awhile ago! Mine was named Bucky, he was taken from a family member, and was a MESS when we first got him. He was scared of everything, had overgrown teeth, and chewed his fur. Over time, he got to be much sweeter, and was never tame, but I loved him! We put him to sleep a few years ago due to malocclusion, but he was an awesome animals. Chinchillas are so much fun to watch!
