mites

Hey Everyone,
I just got a Red Headed Agama lizard today and noticed that it had mites.

What products/solution do you all recommend?

Don't worry it is away from the snakes and beardies. It only has a few upon close inspection, but you all know how they can multiply.

Anyways this is my first time dealing with mites in a while and I want to nip it in the but. I can't seem to remember what I use to do..

Thank you for replies!!

Some people use baby oil on he corns, not sure about a lizard. good luck! I'm not coming to your house for a while now, lol!

I'm not sure you should use anything you spray in the environment of a lizard because they lick everything. I would actually ask on a lizard-specific forum.

My daughter's bearded dragon had mites when she got her and she just hand-picked them.

I would keep him in a very plain viv for now so you can easily clean and disinfect it daily. When I had my swift he had mites, and my snow corn I got at petco had them too. I used baby oil/veggie oil on them both and it worked great. I did this daily until I saw no more mites. It worked on them both.

Thank you all for the advice!

I ended up asking some bearded dragon people on facebook what they would use :).

LOL! Kathy, the little thing isn't that infested. Honesty, if I didn't know what to look for, you can't even tell it has any.

I try to keep the vivs pretty plain to start with, just for this reason.
