Mooses.... MEECIES!

I thought you called 'em Coo mooses because they made you "COO" because they're so cute! :D

Oh well I coo over them as well. They are darling little beasties :)

Aww they are just soooooo adorable!!! I want mooses and ratties, but I can't because they set my asthma off :(

You'll just have to keep posting updates on them, so I can enjoy them through your photos! :D

Thanks Susie doll!

I intend to use this thread to keep you guys updated :) I am very excited to see how my colony progresses...

More updates from the colony. There are now 1.4 adults (3 of which are pregnant at the moment) and 15 small mooses. Another week or so and they can be culled.

Moosezilla!

Things are getting a bit crowded in the moose hoose!

I am so proud of all the pretty patterns and colour mutations. I am selectivley breeding for more doves and blues in the funkiest patterns I can get!

No, I don't have the time, space, or inclination really, but I do think they are cute little buggers

I never expected to get any champagnes, doves, blues or pearls since the parents were argente. But I have had a lovely even mix in the litters. I ever had a PEW!

My friend is coming to give me some hairless coo mooses and some self black satins. I am sooooooo excited!

Elle, this post made me really get interested in starting my own colony to hobby breed for color and genetics fun + raise healthy snake food.

It is a fabulous little side project. Because I can't breed my snakes and play around with their genetics, I can get my morph fix from the mooses. Plus I REALLY enjoy the work involved in keeping them. They are a pleasure. Although, running on the squeeky wheel at 3am is not so pleasureable...

They sound like a lot of fun... I like rodents; I actually just acquired 2.0 rats this week (just as pets) and they are the best.

Is it hard for you to cull them, or do you just keep your emotional distance? I know my rattie boys have won my heart already, but I think I could handle culling mice.

It's hard culling the first few. Then it becomes just another chore. It's sad, but I secretly and sickly look forward to it some days because I know I will have lots of shiney haired, fat and healthy food items for my snakes at the end of it all. And it's great to know exactly what my snakes are eating.

Plus, once I cull a good few, the colony gets busy doing it all over again :)

Yup, I can see that, and that would be a big part of my motivation for doing it - knowing the animals were raised and treated well and are nice and healthy.

Thanks for the info - I look forward to seeing what pops up out of your colony!

A banded dove mumma in the nest with some of her grown on babies. A coo/banded argente and a champagne :) Squishhhhh.

Me too! I wish they were black eyed though :(

Here is another squishy mooose hoose picture. Moosezilla, some wet and sweaty argente and dove banded babies. Check out little miss stretchy and the wee screwed up face gimpy baby in the corner LOL!

Oh also, my favorite funky coo argente female at the moment. She has the best pattern and is currently pregnant. I can't wait to see what comes out of her.

I really like how a few generations down the line, I have managed to breed better argentes with darker blue undertones and longer hair. I hope to keep this going! Compare babies to the original argente (mumma moosezilla).
