Morning Surprise!!!

AliCat37

Michelle's Candied Corns!
I came home last night and saw that one of my eggs had slit open.
Opened the box this morning to see these ADORABLE KIDS!!!! I have six so far.. out of roughly 25 or so eggs. I have so far seen 2 anery motleys that are completely out (CUTEST MOST CURIOUS BABIES EVAR), and two amel faces that came looking out at me then crept back in when the aneries moved, and the nose of one that looks to be a snow. So that makes five, but the perlite was moving by one of the other eggs so I am assuming that some of the babies that are on the bottom half of the pile are hatching / out too.

:D

YAY!!!

Two more out! Little amel is still sitting there with his head in the egg trying to go back in. The snow has not moved much.. hope this one is okay, and another nose poking out!

We're at two amels, one normal, and two aneries! All motleys so far! (I know aneries, snows, and amels are common but they are cute and the motley gene just makes them cuter!) They are so curious! They come right over to my hand if I put it in there :3

dad is my normal motley het snow and mom is my anery het amel motley :)

Up to 23 now, out of an estimated 25 eggs! of the 23, 20 of them are completely out. 3 are still noses.

I so far have lucked out and only hatched two normal patterned babies!
I also have a beautiful anery pinstripe motley :3

BABIES!!!! I took them out of the "incubator" (really, I just put them on the top shelf and hoped for the best!). They are all still together for now.. hoping the rack will be here by the time they start to shed. I really hate to say, but I got so caught up in things I forgot when Envy laid the eggs! Yikes! So when they started denting last week I assumed that it was dehydration.. LOL. So excited for these kids. So far I seem to have a 100% hatch rate! That would be the first time! First time mommy Envy laid this huge clutch, zero slugs, and so far all hatch! I feel so proud, having raised the parents from the time they themselves were wee little worms. :3

Okay! So I am at 25 babies completely out now. I pulled out the eggs and candled them to make sure none are in them, and pulled them apart to count. I had a total of 27 eggs! WOW! One of those eggs had died early on (was on the bottom of the pile) but no mold ever transferred to the healthy and viable eggs. One baby is still in his egg, looks to be another normal or anery. He hasn't really moved much but is still alive. I am SO excited! I think that 26/27 for a first time mom is an awesome outcome! Especially with how many motleys I ended up with :3

That Motley count is totally not paying any attention to the odds there. With one parent only het for Motley, 50/50 would have been more like it. Very cool! And so is the clutch size and hatch rate! Congrats.

I just hatched my first two clutches ever. In the first, I got 7 good eggs out of 15, but 4 went bad, so I ended up with only 3. She laid 8 more slugs in a second attempt. The other clutch was better, with 16 good eggs, 4 went bad, and one little guy was badly kinked. One egg is still sitting there, but it isn't really late, so I'm trying to be patient. So far, the 10 look good, but it is early. They haven't even shed yet.

You have cute kids!

My first couple of clutches were not nearly this lucky. I had eggs die, with only 2 hatch, then my second was successful but I had my poor female get egg bound.

This was a great clutch, lots of them have already taken their first meal! The only downside to this clutch... They're mostly boys... It's one thing when I pop them and they all end up female, I know I did something wrong... This time, I have so many boys it's insane. I'll have to get some odds up.
