She's anorexic! Du'h!!
The thing with Americans is... most are either obese or anorexic... :shrugs:
Sorry I don't know who she is, never seen a pic of her before either, so I have nothing to compare it to.
How can you tell she's anorexic from a photo? or is she so well known it's obvious?

Eating disorders are a serious mental illness. And you can never understand this until you have experienced it.

Would it be all in good jest to post pictures of manic depressants or schitzophrenics and call them sad or pathetic?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this is very sad. Why are we poking fun at this young woman? We do it to each other on the fourm, but she didnt' ask to be here. I'm sorry but I find it in poor taste.
I have a vague feeling she was a teenage star? With a twin? The picture makes me sad, because if I'm right she was a sweet young girl and now she looks ill. Like a Karen Carpenter scenario. I'll admit I love Karen's voice and watching her biopic or footage when she was wasting away chokes me up.

I don't think it's her fault. We have an impossible standard of beauty, a woman's body is not really meant to be shaped like an hourglass it's not natural. If 'rubenesque' were still the fashion I think fewer young ladies would be doing this kind of thing to themselves. She is only a product of the society she grew up in so publicly. I can't see that pic and not wonder where time has gone, I still remember watching 'Full House' when those cute little twins couldn't even talk yet. Very sad.

You are correct she is a twin and yes she has suffered from anorexia. To make more cruel, it has been reported Heath Ledger was in her town house when found dead or one owned by her or her sister.

Im with Susang on this one, these people get a hard enough time from the media, constantly being slated for th way she looks. Perhaps if people concetrated on bettering themselves, rather than pointing the finger at others, then eating disorders would be less of a problem

I have no comment on the eating disorder discussion; I just saw the face and came to the realization that we have someone to fill Heath Ledger's shoes for "The Joker".

:sidestep:

I have to agree with Susang. I don't like the idea of making fun of others problems.

I have never understood the idea of an hour glass figure. I am shaped like an avacado and I think that is the way the good lord likes it. Who am I to mess with that?

You know what is really sad and sick isn't necessarily the people who have these disorders and problems, but the public's fascination with it. It is "news" that sells, and the majority of the public seems to luv this kinda of crap. Not just in the States either, but all across the world. And the original post is just sad. What's the point? We have become a society that likes to feel better when we see others who are suffering, especially those who are rich and famous.

Hmmmm, I don't think tricksterpup was making fun, nor slamming her, "this is one scary and sad photo." is neither.

As to her "problems". Give me a break. The media's fault? Sorry, last I checked, each individual person is responsible for their individual choices. Regardless of the pressures, it still comes down to a choice.

Quite frankly I'm sick and tired of the "pass the blame to someone else" society that is developing. Own your problems and find your solutions. :shrugs:
