The father is the mothers son from a few years ago, he is het motley. I was expecting all motleys but some of the babies came out as pinstriped motleys.. I think it is just a variation on the motley gene itself, but I haven't studied that gene as much as others.

Gosh those are beautiful snakes. The anerys have such bold, clean patterns. I hope you will produce more of these and hold back a few. I'd like to purchase sub-adults or adults from you in the future. I wish I could just snatch them right though the computer.
 
It looks like your het motely male gave all your babies nice pinstripey type paterns. Do any of them have that oh so lovely hurricane patern mom has?
 
Unfortunately.. this whole clutch was lost... :( Sad story.. Had an ant problem in the old house... I never noticed them going into the tub. Maybe they where going directly from the wall into the back.. I usually check on the babies every day too.. A few days after they shed, I went in to seperate them into tubs and they where all skeletonized.. I was horrifed.. I had no idea ants would eat something alive.. I learned a big and horrible lesson and warned all the other breeders I knew.. Then I heard stories of people being eaten alive.. I never knew ants where so extreme.. But ants are completely not allowed in my house anymore.. Ever!! So I have no idea what any of these guys wouldve looked like now.. And I hate to think of what they suffered.. It breaks my heart..
 
Oh man that is horrible. I shudder to think about it. I hate ants. I have had to put those terro liquid bait traps in the reptile room more than once and they really do help.
Good luck with the repeat pairing. The snow mot was so cool, I really hope they give you another one of those.
 
That was a sad story! I feel for you and offer up a hug a year after the fact!

It was cool to see that they were both het amel to boot! They were great looking hatchlings. Good luck this year!
 
What kind of ants do you have in Nevada? To do such a thing in such a short time...

Makes me worry about the few sugar ants I have in my house. I'm so sorry for your loss. There's really no words to describe it.

We have many different types.. Fire ants, carpenter ants, pharoah ants, argentine ants, harvestor ants.. I have no idea what kind these where... All I know is they came in in masses.. They where small and had bigger guard ants, or whatever they are called with them.. I used to be ok with the ants coming in.. They would never bother me and just be after a piece of chip or something the kids left on the floor.. They would usually be gone quick enough as they cleaned up the chip or whatever fast... As I would let spiders live in the corners and etc.. Not after this.. Ants are forbidden.. This is what happens when you are a hippy and try to live in harmony with whatever(other than roaches) comes into your house.. I wish I wouldve known before what they would do..
