Musket- My baby Columbian Boa

I'm super pumped. I've wanted a boa for months now, and I finally found the perfect little guy! He is a Columbian Boa, and I'm told that he is a red tail, but I know a lot of people call them red tails even though they're not. I named him Musket. He used to eat f/t, but the people who had him before me switched him to live. I'm hoping it won't be too hard to switch him back. He is 8 months old, and he is super sweet. He is currently settling into his new home. :)

Red Tail applies only to Boa Constrictor Constrictor- be glad it doesn't apply since Suriname Boas(the most common BCC) can get as large as two Colombian Boas.

Boas will usually eat anything, I wouldn't be that concerned.

Congrats!

Thanks everyone! I love him already. I haven't seen him exploring at all but there are snake lines through the aspen so I know he has been out. I can't wait to try feeding him and start handling him :)

Some new pictures! :D Took him outside again today and took some photos. He is such a great picture snake. I can position him anyway I want, and he will sit still until I'm done.

Here's one inside before going out.

Red Tails are Awesome. I have a pair and they're really fun and actually get nicer as they get bigger. Just remember that if it strikes, don't get nervous and stay in control. These guys are fast.

Gorgeous! Did he switch back to f/t okay?

Dastan, my BCI, could care less what he is eating. He's only ever gotten f/t but he's got a feeding response that makes my corns look like they hesitate to eat. The first time I offered him a rat he nearly leapt out of the cage!

Thanks evryone.

He switched back to f/t just fine. He actually accepted the first 2 times, then refused for the next 2 feedings, and then accepted the next 2 feedings. So hopefully it's not a pattern and he will eat next week :) He is very excited to strike at the mouse every time when I wiggle it, but then he would leave it sit there. I think I'm going to switch him to rats soon, becasue even though mice are working out, he is going to have to switch eventually, so why not sooner than later.
