My friends brother joined the Marines about two years ago and had to find a new home for his pair of corns. I'd wanted some snakes for some time, and corns are the perfect pet for me (don't get to big! lol)
He told me that they'd found out 'Copernicus' (a snake he'd acquired from his teacher) was actually a female (now dubbed Perni) when she laid eggs after being put together with the male. They get along great, so even though he'd never manage to get the eggs to hatch he kept them together.
When I inherited the pair I wanted to try an get their eggs to hatch. Purni didn't lay last year (I didn't try anything special, I just figured if she was gonna let her hubby have any then she'd let him have any ;P) But this year (the 2nd of June) she laid a nice big clutch of 17 eggs.
3 were infertile from the get go, but the others all did great. Considering I'd NEVER tried anything like this, I'd been trolling the internets the whole time making sure I did everything right.
I've decided corns MUST be easy to hatch if I managed to do it xD
So anyways yes, babies for the past 3 day now, and still 5 eggs with little noses poking out of them. Everyone looks happy and healthy so far, but now that they are safely here I'm worried about the keeping them safe part lol!
Maybe I'm an over worried grandma xP
I know they aren't gonna eat anything for a while yet (not till after the first shed correcto?) but they just seem so small, how do they manage the feat of swallowing a pinky at this size?
Anyways, I'd figured I'd post some pics of the babies. I've been showing them off everywhere else (even on the world of warcraft forums lol)
I'm not sure what kind of morphs they are. I've been trying to figure out what types the parents are, and the fact that the babies are such a huge mix of colors doesn't help me figure out a all! lol
So far there are two of this color.
The rest look like this
The happy couple.
It is a little confusing that none of the babies so far look like the mom (she looks like a normal colored corn to me)
Sorry for the essay, I'm just so excited! XD
