My First Clutch of Hatchlings

Hi

So I bred my male and female hypo motley's a few months back and this was the final results. I am relatively new to snakes but managed to pull this off. I expected all the babies to look like their parents but I guess I dont know much about genetics as it kind of makes my head spin. Can someone please tell me exactly what morphs these are ?

Kind regards

Your animals appear to both be het for anery and amel. What you are seeing are ghost mots(the grey ones), and hypo-amel mots alongside the normal hypo mots.

I see Amel motleys, ghost motleys and hypo motleys.

Your Hypo motleys are het anery (called "Silver" in South Africa) and amel.

CONGRATS!!

The normals would be POSSIBLE het amel and/or anery wouldn't they? Both parents apparently were hypo-normals het anery-amel.

Or am I crazy?

Congratulations to a lovely clutch!!

I really adore theme all...
Those amels are so bright and shiny... =)

What a cool surprise!!

Male = Hypomelanistic, Motley, het. Amel, het. Anery
Female = Hypomelanistic, Motley, het. Amel, het. Anery

Offspring predicted as:

---------------------------------------------------
9/16 Hypomelanistic, Motley (66% poss. het. Amelanistic, 66% poss. het. Anerythristic)
3/16 Amelanistic, Hypomelanistic, Motley (66% poss. het. Anerythristic)
3/16 Anerythristic, Hypomelanistic, Motley (66% poss. het. Amelanistic)
1/16 Amelanistic, Anerythristic, Hypomelanistic, Motley

Thanx for the lovely replies people. The whole genetic thing still boggles my mind. 11 out of the 13 hatchlings have shed and eaten but I am having a problem with 2 of them. Its been 10 days since they have hatched and they still havent shed yet.

Hi Rishaad.

Have you tried soaking the two that haven't shed in warm water? (Should be slightly cool to human touch).

Or you can put them in a tub with damp paper towel, this helps them shed sometimes...
