Aimez le monstre.
Well, I could not find any golden knees at the NE Reptile Expo :[[[[[[ and I backed away from a red leg after seeing it flick hairs in response to me just picking up the tub it was in (LOL) I found a nice little rosea. Right now she is clearly stressed out so I'm not sure if she'll be a Satan rosea or a nice one. But shes still very pretty! I cant get many photos of her considering when I put her into her new enclosure all she did was go to a corner climb up on the glass and sit there (still is sitting there) and its kinda a hard spot to photograph her at. Right now she is just chilling out in that corner :]

I was told she is a female by two experienced tarantula keepers so I'll just go with that until 'she' molts and I can get a good look. But till then I'll just assume its a she. She dosen't have a name yet and I'm open to suggestions. :]

Here are some photos of her :]

She might just be a plain old rosea to a lot of people, but I think shes great :D

I cant wait till she really settles in so I can see if she will be handleable. :]

Thanks for looking

lol! Thats the first thing my sister said!! I was hoping to get a Chaco Golden Knee to name Penelope, but I ended up with this little one :] I'm into like strange "mystical" names. Its going to take me a while to decide on a name for this one.

Roseas are such under rated T's. They are so subtly beautiful, docile, easy to care for and long lived... what more could anyone want from a T? I can't wait till my rosea sling get all gorgeous and big like your lass.

BTW she looks like a "Madam Pinky Mcfluffy Bum" to me :)

SR1234, those are all nice names but not really my style. I ment to say mystical not mythical ahaha. I just really like strange 'exotic' names for my pets. :]

LOL Elle I'll have to think about that one!
ROFL did you see what else you made me do? http://cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65901

Your such a bad influence to me as far as my wallet is concerned lol!!!
I'm ready for more boas and tarantulas now :D

I can't wait to get some more photos of this girl, shes really SO gorgeous in person, Ive been finding it difficult to capture on camera.

oh and Elle I got some chondro photos just for you!

in my second post ;)

LOL well I have a lovely awakening this morning! I woke up to find her still in the corner she was in last night, then she comes down and walks to my direction, and stops right in front of the water bowl, then took a drink and kept walking around for a bit. I was amazed with how gracefully she moved and careful all her motions were. Then she settled on top of her half log hide in a different corner of the tank.

Does anyone know how long I should wait to handle her? I really want to start handling her and getting some good photos, but don't know how much time I should give her to settle in, and I deff. want to give her as much time as she needs...

I never make a point to handle my T's, I just have to when they insist on darting out their tubs as soon as I open the lid. My big vegans lass likes to come out when shes about to be fed, when I'm changing her water, when I take out cricket remains and even when I simply open her box to get some good pictures. Shes so slow and graceful though so I don't mind when she wants to go a wee wander up and down my arm. Let the T come to you Brian...

Haha yeah, I was thinking just open the lid and see if she wants to come out and play. Shes just so cute its hard to resist her! lol

Fine I'll go :D

She needs a water change anyway, lets hope shes up for some playtime and modeling!

Well I feel like an ass. :[

I started by opening up her tank to change her water out, she didn't seem to care. Then I realized I left my memory card in my computer, so I went and got it, opened up her tank took some photos, closed it then misted her cause her substrate seemed pretty dry, she moved a little in response to this to I opened her tank back up and after a few minutes she begun to climb up and out a little. I put my hand out she touched my palm with one of her front legs, then lifted it back up slowly. she sat like this for quite some time, so I was like alright I'll just get her back in and try tomorrow. So I very carefully got her two front (suspended) legs onto the inside of the lid, then slowly and carefully started to bring the lid down, she moved and the lid touched one of her feelers and that scared the crap out of her! She didn't rear up or anything, she just jumped back a little then climbed down back into her enclosure and I shut the lid when everything was safe. I feel awful for scaring her like that!!!! Once I put the lid back on and a few seconds passed she calmed down, she 'sat' down on her little half log hide looking out the glass. Maybe shes trying to give me glares cause shes mad at me, or maybe shes like "awh its alright, partially my bad." LOL

anyway I did get some photos.

When I already changed her water, and got my camera.

I'm going to give her a few days before I try to see if she wants to play again. God knows by then she'd probably forgotten about this whole thing. From what I understand tarantulas are basically just concerned with what is happening at the exact moment they are in.... thats what I heard anyway.

Kim, let me know Rosys don't appreciate misting, but on a bunch of care sheets I read they like a little humidity and even the substrate she was on in the little cup I got her in was a little damp...

So I'm stopping misting now and I feel even worse. :[

Ack don't feel bad. After being stuck at the expo all day a light misting would not do any harm. Sometimes I have to encourage my spidies onto my hand. I just use whatever is near me at the time (tweezers, a pen, a straw) to gently push their bum and they get the idea that moving forward is what I want.

Yeah, I was trying to encourage her to move back haha. I keep a paint brush by her enclosure just in case I might need her to move for any maintenance or anything. If she were stuck in this position again could I use the paint brush to touch her front legs? Do you think she would get the idea I want her to back up? Maybe I'll try it out tomorrow, if shes just sitting out I'll try very lightly touching one of her front legs with the paint brush and see if it just pisses her off, or she backs up a little in response. Or if that dosent work ill just get her onto my hand then place my hand in the enclosure and give her little bum a nudge so she'll go back into her enclosure.
Oh here is her home :] I think it looks adorable!!
Picture1210.jpg

oddly I'm kinda proud of it. LOL!

Oh Elle, I should have taken a picture earlier of my boa he was having a nice little soak in his water bowl (no he doesn't have mites, just loves some humidity lol). He looked SO cute! I'm surprised he hasn't taken much interest in his new climbing log. Eh hes still getting used to the place, I'm sure he'll start using it sooner or later. :]

Glad you finally picked one up...she's a looker! I never agree with the " just a rose hair " thing. Totally under rated Tarantula's....they are usually very docile ( even though mine is satan ) and easy to care for. How could you go wrong? welcome to your next addiction...enjoy your spider!
